Lead Paint Update!!
#1
It seems that the lead paint scare was just part of the reason we had to stop sale of all youth models. At the same time the US Govt. was redoing the age requirements on these machines as well. We were able to put the 90cc atvs back on the floor, but not before we had to replace the age limit stickers on them and change the age that a youth has to be on the 90cc class atvs from 12 years and up to 13 years and up. We ars still waitimg to here if the 50cc class has changed from 6 years and up, before we can put these back on the floor to sell. So, at some point one has to wonder if this is just another way for Uncle Sam to make it harder to sell these units, as most 13 year olds are way to big to fit on the 90cc machines. Just my own personal opinion.....DOG

We just had a law in Illinois turned down that would have banned all riders under the age of 16 illegal.
I have an 11 month old boy. I am starting to get really concerned that he won't be able to enjoy this sport until he is 16. My wife and I enjoy our riding time. Was looking forward to him getting old enough to join in the fun.
Also how do these stupid laws affect anybody. Are there really that many kids getting hurt that we need this to be a law. Plus, this sport could die without young kids ever experiencing it. Just my thoughts!!

I'm guessing it was not two seperate issues. The lead law applied to products for use by children 12 and under, so the ATV manufacturers got around it by changing the recommended age from 12 to 13.

I Have to agree with you on that one. It is a way to get around the lead paint issue on the 90cc machines, but as the fate of the 50cc ones, we'll have to wait and see..... DOG
