Max6x6 , I don't want to boost your ego too high but I have to admit that's a pretty cool looking setup. Are the tires and soft top on your max original equipment or are they add-ons ? I've never seen a real life max before. I've seen the old Cushman traxters that were made I think in the early to mid 70's. Have you ever seen a traxter ? They appear to be similar to your ride other than they have trax, of course. My buddy has a traxter that's simply awesome in the snow. The only drawbacks are when it comes to turning you better be hanging on or you'll end up outside. It turns so sharp it's almost scary. The other drawback to his is the fact that the engine smokes so bad you almost need to carry an oxygen bottle. Anyway, cool picture !

foreman4x4 i just did the study before i purchased a plow. two brothers have cycle country 48" setups and one buddy has stock polaris outfit. couldnt find a moose to look at. i choose a warn setup. better reinforcing on the blade. heavier blade/frame with higher lift (11" with winch). one lever angling and can get power lift kit for those who feel they dont need a winch. total package blade frame and mt one price. and was cheaper than most. i bought one and im happy.

Bill, that was after I sent the instuctions for installation (grin), or was that for your brothers King?

Max- Nice picture. I would not mind plowing snow in that set up, but...... I need snow too. Probably won't get any till next year.
(which is only 16 days away)

I am looking to buy a plow for my 99 Kodiak and was wondering if any of you snow plowing fanatics would have any idea of prices. I have talked to the dealer and they say $400 for the manual lift setup. Any help would be great because we do have SNOW here in Northern Idaho.

Bill,

Connecticut, installation procedure for cycle country plow that you need to install on your brothers King Quad.

Modifications: Start in any gear, use front differential lock in any gear.

Etc, Etc, and you promised to take me trail riding when I get the time to get back to Michigan.

Does this help?

ERIC,ok ,now im on the same page. Also,I hope my quad is done before you decide to head this way for our trail ride.Im begining to think I'd be better off ordering a 2001 Sportsman. The 2001 might get here faster than my 99 Sportsman will make it out of the shop.[oh,it's just that I miss the ole boy]====Bill

It only means to me that we are just bigger boys with big toys and we just love to play in the snow. Speaking of snow, wish we had some. I just had the "County Plow" brand installed on my Traxter and am praying nightly on my knees for knee deep snow. I had a "Cycle Country" 60" plow on my former Honda 300 but anything over about a 6 - 8" snowfall was almost too much for it to handle. I am hoping my Traxter will be able to push more. It has a winch set up rather than the hand lift. The blade is shaped similar to the blade used on large county vehicle plows - higher on one end and can be angled. Will let you know how this works out if / when we ever get snow up here.
Take care - have fun - be safe - life is GOOD!

I just sat down at the puter to browse after installing a Polaris 60" plow on my Sp500 this afternoon. Low and behold, found this post. Price was about $360.00. They wanted $50.00 to install but I said na, I'm handy. Took about 2.5 hours. Put on take off is very easy. I have a winch but opted for the manual lift. Works very well. I will be bolting a 6" piece of mine belt on the top for the deep stuff (keeps it from rolling over the top). We often get 24" to 30" at a time here in the mountains. I am wondering how it will handle it...will probably will have to keep after it in successive bites. I'm thinking chains will help keep the back end from sliding around when snow is deep. Have cut down car chains for the rear. Has anyone tried chains on the front too. Is there an advantage? Sand bags on front and rear racks of ATV may be beneficial. The plow is heavyduty but I did notice it wanted to ride up when I tried it on some gravel/dirt. I may try to rig a sand bag on the back of the blade somehow. Any other ideas for this? I have used the skids on other blades. They work well and help keep the blade from catching on every little crack and bump. Well worth the money. Mine came with them and they seem adequate. Learned these tips when I had a blade on a Jeep a few years ago. Hope this helps. Now if it will only SNOW!

ps. heated handgrips go on tomarrow!
