bloodtrail, "An ATVer's gotta do what an ATVer's gotta do!"

Don't worry about it! Perhaps it's not the best thing in the world to run a winch under water ('cept maybe a Rule marine winch), but hey! We're talking about an emergency situation!

Do what must be done; if the winch gets damp, so be it. My suggestion: don't avoid a mudhole because you fear submerging your winch. The winch's job is extracting you from the mudhole, if necessary.

The new SuperWinch model ATV2000 and T1500 winches pulled 2400 # at stall after nine hours total submersion; thus, these mechanisms function to some extent after a bath. You can clean and dry your winch after operating it in a severe environment, if necessary.

With a 3000 # winch on you quad, be happy! Don't worry!

My T1500 superwinch has been under water and mud a couple of times. It still runs fine. But I managed to break off the freewheel switch while running over a tree (the winch is bolted to front bumper) and have not found it yet. Anyone know where I could get a new one? also I used silicone to seal around where the winch wires go into the winch. I rode it one day in the water it got totally under then it was about 15 degrees that night. and my brakes froze up and the quad would not move for a little bit.
But the winch moved fine so I think that the water stayed out.

I have a new Rancher. Where can a person find the mounting backet for a Warn 2000 Winch? The people I have talked to don't have them yet.

Try Cabelas. If you don't see it in a catalog or on their website, call them.
