2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 rear brake issue
#1
Well, I bought a used 05 kodiak and when I bought it, the rear brake did not work. The brake pad was completely worn out. I replaced them and still the brakes do not work.
When I push down on either the left hand brake (for the rear) or the foot brake, it is like there is no pressure and absolutely no brake. I am 99% sure I put the pads on correctly. I think it is some other issue.
Anyone have any ideas on what I should be looking for or what I could check myself???????
I am no machanic, but I did figure out the pads. Help please.....
Awesome site by the way, great resources.

In the future if you have specific questions - IE yamaha kodiak - you are better off asking in the Yamaha section

If the machine has been sitting for a while, it could be low on fluid, and air ini teh system is quite common. Also, it may be a good time to just flush the whole system anyway. Moisture gets into them and you should do this every couple years or so anyway. I make it a point when I put my "Summer" machines away, I always change the oil, and brake fluid just to be sure, and then it is ready to go when Spring comes. My year round machines get regular servicing as the seasons change. Spring and Fall depending on how much work I have put them through. Never burned through brakes though. I suspect you might have something going on with the system as a whole.
