Opps sorry my sled does have a tach, I just don,t pay any attention to it. Kinda like putting a automatic tranny car in 'Drive" and staring at the tach. Whats the point. A 500 ATV with just 35hp is going to rev itself out at 55mph and hit a rev limiter? My sled with 120 hp hits over 100 mph accross the lake and does not rev itself out.

how stupid are you? yopu equate everything to HORSEPOWER HORSEPOWER HORSEPOWER! you truely dont have much knowledge from my point of view. yes i revved it out down a looong pave downhill to see what shed do and it revved out at 7000rpm at 58 mph and dropped off. whats the big deal? i revved out my old foreman 450es also, it would hit 50-52 mph and drop off to 47 (cut out just like the sportsman) what does that have to do with a snowmobile that has to push skis and a track through snow? i have no idea

Like I said other then in low range your just to going to over rev a ATV with a CVT tranny unless its gearing ration it out of wack. My ATV just hits 55mph on a straight long road and makes a luging bog kind of sound far from a high rev sound.

read my above post, it cut out at 7000, no it wasnt bouncing off a rev limiter either... top speed has to do with power, gearing, clutching, weight, elevation etc

what does that have to do with a snowmobile
Maybe because there the same CVT tranny and a ATV has wheels and the other does not. I have no tach but there is no 7000 rpm going on at 55 mph by the sounds of things.

so im lying? whatever buddy, my whole point was its a nice feature, added bonus whatever you think of it as that most competition doesnt have. you cant compare a snowmobile because they're both automatic... it would be much harder to top a vehicle out that goes twice the speed in snow or on ice. my point is, my 500 tops out at 58mph PERIOD. it may not sound like 7000rpm, but maybe thats the nature of the cvt.. also you have a slow 01, the older 500s ive ridden have a higher top speed (clutching was different) but maybe because you live somewhere else it makes a difference... see how the world works?

I ride with a newer 500 EFI there top ends are about the same . I read the 60mph top end post about the 500s , its a dream world. We barely get our 660 Grizzly over 60 and it will spank any 500. or is that up for debate also. LOL
