Default Help me decide

I recently purchased a Grizzly and have been happy. I'm looking to purchase another to help with the food plot, pulling trailer while ice fishing, etc. I found a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 800 for $4500 with 2k miles and a 2012 Arctic Cat 700 for $5000 with 1500 miles. Any thoughts on these?

thanks.

Either will pull a good sized load. The Polaris is a little higher than the AC is rated. Polaris 800 is a strong proven engine. I don't know much about AC. I guess I would run them both a good bit of time to see if the engines run well at running temps. Take them for a ride to hear if there are any bearing, axle, transmission sounds that shouldn't be there, etc. One of the drawbacks with the Polaris of that age is that I think, at that point, they still had the radiator mounted low. If the previous owner was going through deep enough mud/water holes the radiator can get clogged causing overheating. Even if you can spray it out after a ride, the clogged area would be where the fan shroud is. It will not spray out. I had a 500 cc Sportsman that needed the radiator pulled and completely cleaned out. Other than that it was a great quad.

Is it you don't want to use the Grizzly for the chores?

Thank you very much. I have 2 boys so having 2 atvs would be fun for them to ride as well as extra help around the acreage

Ahhhh... That makes sense now.

Another quad I'd throw into the mix if you can find one in your price range is the Polaris Sportsman X2. Previous models had a 500, 700, 800, and 850 (very rare) cc engine. Current model is a single cylinder 570 that puts out good torque and horsepower. Nice thing about it is the rear has a dump box that can carry a true 400 lbs. Nice for chores. I had the 500 cc version from 2006 to 2012. Beat the tar out of that thing for around 3000 hard New England miles and it did well. Only got rid of it because I wanted a higher top speed. The dump box can also convert to a passenger seat in about 10 seconds. Nice to be able to bring someone along for the ride. Here's info. 2017 Sportsman X2 570 ATV | Polaris

Thank you very much! Something I need to take a look at before deciding.
