winch mounting
#1
My dealer must have been out of polaris mounting brackets and winches when i bought my sp500, because i noticed the winch said warn built exclusively for yamaha. My question is the mounting bracket is only mounted by 3 bolts on each side. 2 right through the top frame and the other 1 through where the rack mounts in front. The winch is upside down. The bracket is on top. My question is do you guys think this is mounted strong enough?

Having trouble visualizing what your saying but I count 6 bolts.. Sounds strong to me
Just a note. Just because the winch itself says Yamaha on it. Dont make the assumption the mounting bracket is Yamaha. It'll be the same as any other Warn winch maybe the bracket is Polaris..

Well to make it easer to understand the flat plate of the bracket where the winch ackually mounts is up against the bottom of the plastic rack and the winch hangs under it. The 3rd bolt only goes through behind the plastic rack. So when you pull on it its only pulling on plastic. So really it only has 4 bolts that are secure through the frame. The bracket does not go down the sides of the radiator support at all.

On my Y2K 500 ArcticCat the A2500 Warn is attached to the fram with only 4 bolts and trust me it is a solid mount, I have pulled many a person for some unfortunate surrounding and the winch has even pulled my into them. The mount is awsome, ArcticCat tyhought ahead because the winch is protected by a 3/8" steel plate that protects it and does not affect the approach angle. Yamaha on the box dont worry!! Why would a Polaris Dealer have Yamaha equip.
