The great thing is everyone has to make their quads better just to compete. That's good for us!!! The Polaris has the best comfort, the highest towing capacity, and will go as fast as you should on a utility quad. The weight issue is a mute point. People always say weight is a bad thing. Not if you're planning on plowing or pulling. As far as having it roll on you. 700 lbs vs. 600 lbs. That's like asking what would you rather have sit on you an elephant or a hippo?

I would like to add that polaris is not all their cut out to be. run through the water and get laughed at when you cant move... not fun at all. will not pull much without smoking the belt or at least the scrambler wouldnt. over all i feel as if they are a cheap made piece of junk, but that is only ny opinion but it may not mean much to you

I'd say definetly get a Sp500, I had a Rubicon and Rancher, and they dont match up to my 2002 HO.

They have slightly more maintenance but your decision shouldn't be made on that.

let's get one thing straight, if you buy a polaris, you will have to change the belt every now & then. they also have grease fittings to lube here & there. that's it though, anyone who says that polaris is sh$$ is very full of the same. all manufactures other than honda ( just saying honda makes me yawn) have copied polaris for years! if you bash polaris, i say this, get a life & a real quad!

how can you stand up for such an atv disagrace. let alone use it in the same sentence as honda, yamaha, or kawasaki. Polaris are very high maintenance and cause lots of troublf for the rider. I will say one thing they will move when they are running good but that seems to be few and far between.
so who needs to get a real quad

i suggest a Kodiak. i looked at them all. The kodiak was priced very competitively. Actually $200 less. it has locking true 4x4. It's reliable and can tow up to 1100 lbs. I talked to my dealer and he said the yamaha's have the least amount of problems with polaris having the most. he sells polaris, cat, honda and bomby. the new 450 kodiak also has alot of the features of the big grizzly. Digital dash etc... No zirk's to grease etc..... I have an older one and it's pretty solid.

There all good though. just choose a good dealer and buy what he sells. Your dealer should play a big part in what you buy.

I've had 3 sportsman quads... more than 25,000 miles between them... NEVER replaced a belt, and maintenance is reallistaclly the same as a car, fluids and grease.. only prob i EVER had was a shifter linkage mal-adjustment that caused it to lock into frwrd, but was fixed back at camp... never changed a suspension, driveline or any other piece because it broke.. (unless it was from me rolling it and i busted it)... dunno why you bash the Polaris... probably because you wish you had one.

Stay away from polaris. Unless you understand clutching well. They also have a tendancy to vibrate quickly. I have two scramblers, one has a blown top end and the other has an axle that split right in half (yes, right down the middle)If you are looking for speed, don't touch them either. Bombardier makes good equipment. Remember they also makes jets, trains and other vehicles. So, they must have their procedures well documented and tested.
Good luck.
