I have been noting what brand the seismic and forestry crews and surveyers use as well as the brand that the rental companies use.The vast majority use hondas with a few using yamahas.I have yet to see polarises used by these people. These are the people that make a living with their quads and can't afford downtime so obviously they think hondas are the most reliable.

I've had 3 polaris (a 95 tb 250, a 98 sp 500 and a 01 sp500 h.o.).
All have been great quads.. the 01 is more maintenace free and
reliable than the 98.. I never had a single problem with the tb 250 or
the 01 sp 500 h.o.
Polaris has come a long way in perfecting the sp 500's since they were
introduced 8 or 9 years ago... much improved and very reliable.
Anyone who is still knocking polaris sp 500's have most likely
never owned one...Polaris had some reliability issues a few years
back with some of their quads but their new sportsman line
is awesome and a great utility quad with a great ride.

I have a 400 Outlander and i will agree it is a bit strange looking, BUT i must say it is the easiest ATV i have ever had to clean, nor will any of that plastic ever rust. It has great power and is very nimble my only gripe is that the stock tires suck in the slick stuff.
