best winch and plow type?
#1
I'm planning on buying my first atv this fall. I'm gonna get a 4x4...more than likely the new 2004 Honda 400 AT. Anyway, I'm gonna need a electric winch and snow plow. Any thoughts on what it the best equipment(not the most expensive) ? I'll need a winch strong enough to hoist a 300 lb hog in the air as I do my own butchering. I would suggest a winch with a rating of at least 2000lbs.I have had great luck with warns as have most of the people I know but one of my friends bought a superwinch and hasn't been too pleased with it.

I really like the Warn winches. I've just had better luck with them. Although I have also had a Superwinch ATV2000 that lasted quite a while. Warn seems to hold up a little better.
As for blades, there are several to choose from. I like the Moose blades. From the ones that I've seen, the Moose is definitely the strongest on the market. I have a 50" straight blade that has worked great for me. My only regret is that I didn't get the 60". You need to take all of your plowing needs into consideration. If you plan on plowing in smaller confined areas, or on sidewalks, you may want to go with the smaller 48"-50" blades, or even a V blade. If you have larger open areas to plow, go with the wider blades.
