Sounds like you are going to build a nice combo. Good luck with it!

Dude im serious dont waste all of that money on a rincon. the prairie will do anything the rincon will do. When a new cdi comes out for the prairie the prairie will be able to hang with and beat the rapptors and kfx700 in a drag race.
Snowbuster its not that i like automatics i just like the over all pakage of the prairie and the 700. I plan on getting a kfx 700 at the end of this year , and if i had a chioce i would make it a manuel shift quad.
PS. By 2004 or 2005 the prairie 650 , will be the prairie 700, now that sounds goooood!!.

they do sound like nice quads. and why do you say that by 2004 or 2005 the prairie 650 , will be the prairie 700. is that kawasaki will make it or do you plan on makeing one. also you could just get a big bore kit. 2 cylinders= lots of power. hell yea!

Considering that the Prairie is only about $600 cheaper than the Rincon, price should not be an issue. Don't get me wrong, the Prairie does have a ton of power that the Rincon cannot stand up to but that is because they are two different types of quads. As for acceleration, the Prairie is pretty impressive, but you must consider the overall concept of the quad. The Prairie has power and acceleration while sacrificing ride and maneuverability. The design of the Prairie is more of a work quad. Great for hauling trailers on the farm but not so good for trail riding. The Rincon on the other hand is great at general trail riding while not being so good at work. The Rincon still has plenty of power to get the job done, but it is more of a sport utility quad.

One other thing to consider is the transmission. The Rincon blows the Prairie away when it comes to this area. Want a manual or an automatic, the Rincon can be both. Rather than being powered by a belt that can slip, the Rincon has gears. One other thing is the ease of maintenance. Like most pure bred utilities, the Prairie is rather difficult to work on. This is not a particularly bad feature because, again it is not intended to be worked on all of the time. It is a util that is meant to haul, not be modified. However the Rincon offers easier access to the majority of major components. Give me a Phillips screw driver and I can a good chunk of it apart in no time. This is a huge plus when out on the trail.

One last thing that I will add is that you should consider looks. I realize that most quad riders like to claim that looks are not important, but they are (that is why aftermarket cosmetic products are so hot). Take the Prairie for example. It is a traditional boxy quad with little appeal to the eye. Take a look at the Rincon and you have a totally different feel. From the air scoop on the nose to general flow of the lines. It looks like no other utility and you will see the quad industry follow Honda's lead on this fact. The bottom line is that both are good quads, but it comes down to what you want to do with it that will show you which is better for your needs.

SCHEF:
You clearly have no idea how easy the Kawi P650 is to work on. I do, cause I have one. It is pretty well known that the P650 is one of the easiest of all utes to work on. I have changed a clutch spring and adjusted my belt and it was a joke. If you took apart the clutch on the P650 you would laugh at it's simple design. I can change my belt with a socket in less than 10 minutes in the field...thats a fact man. As for looks, yea the Rincon got the looks....but everytime my BIG V-TWIN opens up and growls, all snickers and laughs at the boxy looks of my Kawi go away big time! In truth ...the Rincon is a really nice bike and it all comes down to what someone wants...nice or BADA$$. For me the choice is obious.

PS: As for the P650 being more of a farm quad...lets see if you say that the first time you run up against one.

Kawi and Rincon both nice bikes! I ride a Rincon and love it. I have raced a Kawi and he laughed at me. But after the initial jump,I hung with him right up to top speed. The big edge he had was off the line and for about fifty feet. But I will not race him again as he was sick of being thrown around and wanted IRS. Now he has a brand new sp700. He just wishes he had the Kawi motor!
