Polairs 400 help

Polairs 400 help
Hey guys.
so I have this 2001 polairs 400 atv I just bought it and its not charging the battery. Now I know its a 3 phase stator but at the regulator there is only 4 wires coming out of the regulator so there is no place to plug in the 3rd wire coming from the stator. Di I need a 5 wire regulator? Any help would be appreciated greatly thanks.
