I wish you could register on line or some thing,the only vouchers I got all weekend were from 5 to 7. that sucked!

 

How many people ride there in any given day? Unless its a small number there will not be enough officers or volunteers to check everyone. Too think that everyone on the net really believes that they will be the ones checked is ridiculous. For example speed limits are there for everyone but how many actually do the posted limit? Basicly its a scare tactic. For the most part most of us obey the rules, while the others break them without another thought. As racerx5x5 said there are more Harleys around with annoying pipes than anything else. We have sound limits here in Missouri also, around my area we have the Kansas City Police, Independence Police, Sugar Creek Police, and Sheriff Department, all within a few miles, with all of their budgets you think they can stop all of the cars, trucks, and bikes with loud pipes? Nope. They have better and more important thinks on their minds.

Sound is an issue that needs to be addressed, but you have to be selective on how you inforce the rules, weather its do to budget, manpower, or equipment. There has to be a mutual understanding on how, who and when to check people. But to think that dasheek let the cat out of the bag by saying what he was told , is ridiculous. I'm sure the officer and his fellow patrolmen know that we as a whole know better. SHHHHH ..................... don't tell anyone about what I wrote, its not public knowledge.

 

for real just because the the dnr told me how things ACTUALLY go dosen't me I can't tell others. Ever herd of something called freedom of speech? Im sure I am not the only the DNR have told how and when they do their sound checks. Im sure their have been many others that have been told the same thing by the DNR as I have.

 

I don't know how 'iliberal' they are down in Missouri,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but our enforcement officers don't give a crap about any duners demanding a 'mutual' understanding on when and where they will enforce our laws. Local volunteers also help the DNR be 'less' (not more) selective on who they pull over..................... and your claim that we "just don't have the manpower"?.........................since this kid's post; there have been a flurry of phone calls to the people who fought for these rules in the first place and know plenty of people who will help enforce them more regularly; both in and 'outside' the Department of Natural Resources (again, just how big a town do you think this is?).

Scare Tactic? Not at all. Just a good old-fashioned grass roots mobilization of the very people who helped craft these rules long ago and actualy PREVENTED this place from being shut down! (yeah, I know you kids from Detroit and Chicago could give a rip less about the 'history' of our dunes.................).

And as for 'the shiek' still wondering why, sometimes, you just maybe have to keep your mouth shut?

Well, from all the phone conversations I've had; there are a lot of local people and DNR management who are really glad that he didn't. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

And to think that all of this grew out of a couple kids, shooting off their mouths, to just another "grumpy old man".................

I never it was such a huge conspiracy to ride your quad in michigan. Thanks mr black, I'll keep my eye open for the older gentel men like your self twiching on their rides looking for something to make an issue about and drag it out. RIGHT ON. Mr black your my hero.

 

I bet you won't do a single sound check on a Harley !!!!!!!!! How loud is your Harley Mr Black??????????????? Iv'e seen the changes over the last 20 years, Some good some bad. I would like DNR to make the parking lot bigger(the hole lenthof the road) and get better access into the dunes! But i guess that is to hard for them! ( It's called a dull dozer) That's right GOD forbid you cut down some trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

 

I guess that you didn't understand what i said.......the law makers, law enforcement officers and the like have to come to a understanding on who, when and how to check for excessive noise . Are you going to stand there and check every person who comes in to ride, nope your not. The DNR will check people already out riding that they deem to be excessive or when someone comes up and complains about someone else, peroid, end of disscusion. If you know anything about laws you'll see that they are a scare tactic. Why don't you go out and mug the next person that you come across that has loud exhaust? Because your gonna get your rear thrown in jail. Action = Result The laws are there for everyone but they are a scare tactic plain and simple. This is undisputable. But hey do what you want won't bother me, I'll pass what ever law that you put in front of me, just as long as its still legal too roost the old timers, otherwise I'd have to break that one. Y'all come on up here to Sliver Lake and GET "scare't"........................because we are 'now' (thanks to #52, above) more ready than ever to build up the fine revenues that will make BROADER law enforcement possible and keep this subject in the forefront.

Sometimes you don't know you have a problem until someone tells you about it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img].....................and a big THANK YOU to all the local people who have, in the past few days, offered to help these officers go out and help make our dunes a better place to ride and enjoy for our grandchildren's sake.

(Oh,........and keep talking about how you "can't" catch people in the parking lot and how these guys can only 'scare' you out-of-town dune riders.....................the DNR enforcement guys I'm talking with are LOVING IT!)

 

I honestly would like to see better patroling of the dunes because im sick of seeing people going the wrong way in the directional zone!!! I have seen way to many idiots going up the backside of test hill. I have about ran into I don't know how many people. That is one thing I would love to see get enforced harder. Trust me I do know it is enforced hard cause i got a ticket once for not going all the way out of the zone by like 2 feet and I was going the wrong way. Trust me 75 dollars later I learned my lesson and ALWAYS go out side of the sticks to go back the other way. They enforce this rule hard but I still see alot of guys going the wrong way and that is SCARY. Im pretty sure this is something BLACKBALL and I would agree on. Even though we may not see eye to eye on other things.

 

Hi I am new to the forum.
I go to silver about 1 or 2 times a month.
In my opinion silver was more fun before the soundchecks. Most of the people with the kicka$$ vehicles are afraid to go up their now, and do not want to spend money to quiet and slow down their vehicles.
I miss hearing the vehicles roar as their climbing test hill.
So far this year I have not seen any soundchecks. They are checking spark arresters (afraid of burning the sand?).
I will keep going no matter what I have to do to get in, it is to much fun to miss out on.
