Ocala N.F is awesome
you should call the ranger stations before going - just to make sure you are doing the right thing
I personally love Lake Delancy but I heard it has since been closed
Many riders prefer Big Scrub
No permits or fees but rules are enforced ... like no riding on numbered roads - call the rangers and confirm
Some people like to camp at Big Scrub, but I feel the security is a question there... stories about theft are common.
I prefer to stay at Mill Dam Resort and ride to Big Scrub (Crappy cabins around an empty lake)
Good Luck, and enjoy the ride -

Lake Delancy is still open but a large area has been closed where the long leaf pines are. You can park, and camp, at Lake Delancy, and ride many miles within the limits of current regulations. I did receive a letter today from the US Department of Agriculture indicating that night riding is going to be prohibited soon. According to the letter, the Forest Service office is hoping to make a decision on this issue by October 15, 2003. Because the letter is unclear as to riding unlicensed vehicles on certain numbered roads, I am going to contact the appropriate office for clarification. As soon as I have an official interpretation, I'll post the information on an applicable ATV Connection forum. BTW, I rode 36 miles at Lake Delancy, Sunday, August 17, 2003, and didn't see many riders. Camping is actually better there than at Big Scrub. GPS coordinates for the Lake Delancy Campground are: N 29 25.633 W 081 47.407. If you're interested, I have a few more areas of interest logged in my GPS. Ride Careful.......
