PA Turnpike abandoned tunnel
#1
Reecently, a coworeker told me about an abandoned portion of PA Turnpike that includes tunnels and bridges. He heard that some folks go bike riding and quad riding there. He couldn't give me any real details about it so I put it out of my head.
Then yesterday, while riding at Buchannan State Forrest, I took a wrong turn and wound up on this abandoned strip of highway. I have to admit it was very cool becuase it was such a unique experience for me. I usually avoid paved surfaces. But these new tires are much broader and flatter than the stock tires and handles very well at full speed on the paved road. I took a right, west I think, and came upon the tunnel in less than a mile.
I'm just curious if anyone else has been up on this piece of turnpike and is it reasonably safe to ride without being chased? I'm sure ATVs aren't allowd. But does anyone actually enforce it?
