SoCal: Anybody been up Pilot rock (2n17x) lately?
I guess some guy went up that road/trail last weekend in a Jeep. Something happened and it's still up there. I was E-mailed and asked if I can help extract the jeep this saturday the 19th.
I have not been up there in years. Can I get up that trail in my stock Jeep? I'm a pretty good driver but theres only so much you can do with a stocker. I have an old Scout with lockers but would prefer the power steering and AC in the new jeep. It'l be 110 degrees up there!
Ps. Any extra help is welcome!

According to the E-Mail he's pretty close to the top of the trail. I may go around the lake and come down to him. Sounds like they plan on hooking a bunch of 4x4's together and dragin him up to 2n33 at the top.
The 392 cu in motor, granny low 4-speed and lockers in the Scout are made to do this!

We got it out!
Theres a twist though.
The guy that owns it is a Forest Ranger. The story:
There was a Jeep stolen and ditched up there in the bushes back in 97'! The Ranger found it and got the title to it from the insurance co that considered it lost 4-ever. It's a 97' with the 6-cyl and 5-speed trans, only has 51k and has been up there covered up since. It's in good shape.....even the tires still had air.
I drove up from the lake and met the Ranger near the top where the Jeep was hidden. I did the whole trail w/o the lockers on. The first hill right by the lake is the worst, the other hills aren't too bad as long as you pay attention to proper wheel placement.
We tied a ****** to the front of my Scout and my rear bumper to the front bumper of the Jeep and drove/dragged up to the top of the trail where they had a trailer waiting.
Trail maintenance! LoL
