There is a set of billet 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum tie rods on ebay for $37.00. Are these strong tie rods? Strong enough to hit trees and stumps with? LOL.
Auction ends today so any help would be appreciated.
Personally I've never ran them but I seen a guy w/ some on his quad last year @ the flattrack races that got tangled up & it bent the hell outta it dont' think I would put them on, I like mine they are triple stregnth I've taken & given some pretty hard hits & not a ding!! Anyway if your tryin to shave weight I say go for it but for the kind of riding you do, I just dont' think I would take the chance but then again I just might not know what I'm talking about HAHHAHA
Thanks Kym,
I'm not looking to save weight, I just need new tie rods (or at least one) after last weekend. Ouch!

Oh man TP is looking for A-arms too?! Not good. He still better be going to Moses this weekend. Hey Joel if you want i can loan you a YAMAHA!? I'm going to have a full load going over there. 2 yamaha warriors, badger 80, kawasaki 500 and a CJ5 jeep, BBQ, dog kennel, 50 gallon water barrel. Joel or Joelene are you still planning on going? Sounds like alot of people are going. I cant wait to get in Daves jeep (you will see who i'm talking about if you come), he has paddle tires on it and it does wheelies, well that is what justin said. If it does i'm all over it!! Let me know you too!!

Rod,

Something you may consider when getting stronger parts:Sacrificial components.
If you make the one component stronger, where's the load going to be transfered to? Will that component be dammaged if the tie-rod doesn't bend? If it does, is it more expensive than a tie-rod?

Take the bumper for instance: The cheesey little brackets bent, but the frame is still straight.

I don't know what will happen if you hit a tree, rock or your riding partner with stiffer tie-rods, but I'd get stock tie-rods.

Just my opinion.

Orr you could me like me and have strong tie rods and weak ball joints everywhere so when you hit the tree your tire goes flyin and you just have to replace ball joints. lol(Ithink i would rather have a bent Rod)

Hey, I've never hit one of my riding partners. I appreciate the advice. I was just wondering if billet aluminum tie rods are as strong as OEM or if they are just for weight savings.
