Get the Garmin RINO 120. I bought the RINO 120, 2 pack for $599 which has 2 RINO 120 has carrying cases, wrist straps, 2 ea earbuds and lapel mics, interface cable to you PC, a Topo map program and a Metro travels guide program. That's about $800 worth of goodies. The main difference between the 110 and 120 is the 110 only has 1mb of memory and the 120 has 8mb of memory to allow you to download you maps when you are out riding or traveling (the 130 has 24mb for really detailed maps) . Having 2 means at least one of the guys you are riding with will be able to find you, or vise-a-versa. My wonderfust wife wanders around when we hunt and since I got the RINO's I have had no trouble finding here. She can get pretty far walking and now that she has her own quad the range is expanded 10 fold. She also does discribe how she got there very well either. The units are all very accurate and seem to work most places, even in the trees. Deep ravines and mountain shadows give them trouble but those do all units.
The Rino'sall have the following features:
Accuraccy to less than 10 feet
Elevation
vertical speed
Speed
max speed
time moving
time stopped
Trip odometer
Heading
Sun and moon rise & set
Alarm clock
calculator
stop watch
games
location (Long & lat)
average speed
local time
distance to destination
find and go to feature
back track
20 track logs with 250 waypoints per track save feature
500 way points
track logs will store up to 3000 way points
8 mb of map memory(downloadable)
8 different map programs available including but not limited to:
Us Topo
Metro Guide
Fishing Hot Spots
Blue Chart data (water with depth)
plus
14 FRS radio channels (2 mile range)
8 GMRS channels(higher power with 5 mile range)
all channels have 38 squelch codes
Scramble feature
Polling (both auto and manual) of other Rinos to locate them (up to 50 others)
I personally like the mapping capabilities and usually save the tracks from every ride in my computer, then download them back in to the RINO when I go back so I canhave a reference guide of the trails or roads taken last time.

It's all in the tires, I don't think gearing makes much difference on ice, what are the brand of tires you're looking at? As far as the hill climbs go, you had a great attitude, just not great tires, they're getting alittle worn and like you pointed out the tread pattern on mine are pretty sweet. Get yourself some new 22" tires and we'll hit it again

I had an older Megellan also and if it's accuracy was with in 50 feet you thought the world was ending. These new units rarely are over 35 feet and usually under 20 feet. A couple of times mine has had single digit accuracy and that's really right down there for a handheld unit. So far I haven't been sorry I didn't buy the RINO 130s.

Are you sure the red ride wasn't the big new red one in the group? It sure looked redder than the other two faded red ones.
