Thank you all for the warm welcome......
Mark mentioned that it wasn't a good idea for me to go out until i had purchased a helmet and proper gear.
I am working on that, and as soon as I do. I can't wait to go and ride with you guys.

Raj,
Definately DO NOT go ridng until you have a helmet, boots, body armor, gloves and goggles.
You also mentioned going out with your dad. It is not a good idea to ride double on a quad that wasn't designed for it. The Scrambler you bought from Bing is not made for two. You need to use a lot of body english, leaning and such, when you ride and carrying a passenger makes this very difficult and dangerous.
85%-90% of all injuries on quads come from doing things you shouldn't do. Riding double, riding on roads, riding without proper riding gear and riding while drinking and/or using drugs. Don't become a statistic from not riding properly.
This is a very fun sport, but you need to remember that you are riding a machine that can kill you even when you are taking all the precautions.
Since you are new to the sport you need to take it slow and easy. As you learn how the quad will react to different situations your riding skills will increase. Soon you'll feel very comfortable on the quad but mistakes can and will be made even by the most experienced riders. That's why there are after market parts available!
Just remember, you WILL crash. You just want to keep the damage to yourself and the machine to a minimum.

Thanks for the advice, I should mention that I have been riding a motorcycle since I was 12. I am 25 now.
I found that while I was riding the Scrambler, that a lot of things like balance and lean angle are similar to when
riding a 2 wheeled motorcycle. I guess in that sense I am not completely inexperienced.
As they do with anything else, I know accidents will happen. I don't plan to do anything stupid. I will make sure
to get the right gear and follow all precautions.
thanks again for all the advice.
Bing,
I wear a medium size shoei for my motorcycle helmet. I don't think the XL will fit me. But thanks.
I am curious though, what is a whip and a flag used for? If I need them, I'll be happy to take those off your hands.

when you go to the dunes, you will need a flag for your atv (so others can see you cresting a hill before they hit you)

Raj,
So you were a two wheeler, so was I.
The number one habit to break going from a 2 wheeler to a quads is, DON"T TAKE YOUR FEET OFF THE PEGS! It's natural for a 2 wheeler to take your feet of the pegs in certain situations on the quad. I have been pulled off my quad twice by doing this. Luckily I didn't break anything except a camera, although it is a great way to break a leg or ankle.
Just thought I'd warn you.

Wow, that guy got it good. I understand the need for wearing a helmet and being careful but, It feels like y'all are
trying to scare me off.
Thanks for the flags. I'll call ya maybe tomorrow about them.
