Can't really answer the question on the foam air filter... possibly a chemical reaction... don't really know, it's junk anyway... It doesn't get hot near the airbox. Throw LTE's on that badboy and your airbox issues go away...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] Might have happend before you got the machine, I wouldn't worry about it.

when you put a k&n in you may want to pay attention to your jetting. you really increased the airflow when you remove that foam and paper element air filter. If it starts backfiring, it's too lean...

Unplug the crank case hose from the back of the air box get a wrench and take the fitting off the airbox and take it to your local auto parts store. Ask for a crank case filter for a small engine that's the same size as the fitting. The element on the one I have is only 1 1/2 inches in diameter and about an inch long. I got mine at the coos bay polaris dealer shortly after I rolled it... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

This is true and then again there isn't really anywhere in the middle unless we were gonna run in Happa's yard and tear his grass up. If not with you then maybe someone else would be interested in a ride here in Mason County. Have several places to ride and I'm open to most of the places here.

 

I'm paddled up, skidless and re-geared. My next ride is Florence. Four days riding the sand, I can hardly wait!
