Old PSAR thread - please see the new one
Well, back from Pacific Raceways lat last night, I was in no shape to read up or post.
Just breezed trhough the pages since Friday.
WOW, I sure hope EVERYBODY that got hurt this weekend gets better and heals up quick.
Sounds like some pretty harsh crashes on the trails and the track.
I'll be thinking about you guys, get better soon.
This also goes out to those "Old Timers" with, as I think I saw posted, "AGE" problems, not necessarily related to riding. I'm in that category now to, as you'll see in my next post.
WINGYDUDE
Yep, sent a couple to the hospital from Pacific Raceways.
They guy you saw on the backboard............What a crash he had.
Keep in mind, NO CHEST PROTECTOR.
He was riding one of the Pit Bikes, WOW those things are fast and can fly like a bird.
He took a double at speed, but came down on his front tire and came to an abrupt halt, he augered his chest into the handlebars, he and bike flipped over, augered his head into the ground, and flipped over.
Pretty nasty crash.
I think, and hopefully, he came out of it pretty good. We did have some concerns for serious injuries due to some symptoms he had, but he did seem to be getting better before they hauled him away.
Oh ya, also.......
Sounds like Jenna "may" have broken her arm similar to how Hayley did.
I'll have to talk to ya though to see for sure.
If it was similar, it does look obvious on the x-ray, but it also looks like that normally. But there is a minor difference you can see to suspect it may be broken.
They missed Hayley's the first time also, they said they would have the Radiologist look at it and call us if anything changed. Well, they called us back the next morning to come get a hard splint and refer her to a specialist.
The Radiologist always looks at the x-rays since they are the "experts". The ER docs can read 'em for the most part, but don't always catch some little or out of the norm stuff.
Hey Karl,

How true that is, I've got many stories (I won't tell) from the past 18 years.....
But what else I would strongly recommend along..................
Is to Wear the right Gender Specific underwear:,
but at the very least, ANY underwear (within reason) is better than NO underwear

Hey Sean,
I got all the photos downloaded last night, and I got some awesome pics of Ashley. I even got one of you getting some pretty good air!
I am going to be going through all of the photos today, but it's gonna take a while. I counted last night and I've got over 1000 pics. As soon as I get them edited I will set up a couple online galleries and post the links.

OK, let's see if my arms hold on long enough to post about Pacific Raceways.....
Those that raced were (as far as I know):
LOKI(Dan) and daughter Jamie. RAPTORCHICK (Lisa) will forego the camera next time and race Hopefully
JEDIMIKE (Mike)
Ashley and me
Man, Dan is fun to watch out there along with all the other fast boys
Didn't see where he finished up though.
Ash and Jamie had fun out there on the track together, as always.
They got to practice together all day Saturday, and raced one race together. It was fun watching them ride side by side. We bought one great pic of them together, and I know Lisa got lots of great ones also.
And then there is MIKE,
Glad to meet the wife and kids.
His first time out ever.......I told ya the track was brutal ;(;(.
I think he had some fun............
Lessons learned for Mike............ Duct tape the seat on.......hehehe. I'll let him fill in the details.
And then there's me.....
OMG I beat myself up.
I love the track....... ok I love parts of the track.
practice all day Saturday and race on Sunday.
I love launching off all the table tops, and I even did some of the milder doubles, those are fun.
I love the comments "Man, I didn't know those things could get off the ground like that"
But if you put a good racer on the Rincon, it would be a impressive run around the track.
Maybe I can get there someday, for now it's just way to much fun learning.
WOW, navigating that 600lb (plus me) quad around a MX track is brutal on the body.
I'm having some of those "AGE" issues I think ROD mentioned earlier.
My entire arms and shoulder are almost unusable right now. I've never felt this stiff in my life.
Lower back is a wee bit stiff also.
I have over a month to recover and go do it all again though
We need some more Utes though, to at least make it a race instead of just playing on the track.
Did have one more guy this weekend, on Suzuki 160.
Hopefully we can get some more folks out to come play and or watch, that is what makes it fun.
Hey Bill,
There are a few 40's and 50's out there. Some modded pretty good. Your Lil Guy would have fun out there I think. I think he'd like the track they run on also.
Only 2 races left.
Saturday practice........ Sunday Race

Wow. You leave for a couple of days and the forum is burning and the hospital is doing a brisk business. Sorry to hear about all of the injuries.
Got back late last night from 2 days in Florence. Went down with a friend. We got there about 8 a.m. Saturday morning. We got about 42 miles in on Saturday and another 25 or so on Sunday. We came out injury free, but I did get some intimate time in with my Vinson -- taking it apart and putting it back together. We were out about 20 minutes on Saturday and my quad just died. It lost all power. We checked the spark plug, took the gas tank off and drained about 1/2 a gallon (to check if there was water in the fuel), checked the fuel lines and that there was fuel in the carb. Nothing helped. I ended up getting towed back by my friend on his Suzuki Z400. How embarassing, a fine utility quad being towed by a sporty. We took loaded it up and took the Vinson to town. The closest Suzuki dealer is in Coos Bay (over 40 miles), so we went to the Yamaha dealer first. They were annoying, rude and of no help whatsoever. So we took it to the Polaris dealer. A couple of young guys had just bought it and were very willing to help. Long story short, they fixed it. It was a clogged jet in the carb. I would never have found it. So, I highly recommend anyone spending money at the Polaris dealer just south of Florence on 101 (at the turn for South Jetty)!! Then, it happened again. Same symptoms, only not as bad. But, I watched the guys fix it before, so I took the carb apart and cleaned out the jet. It ran fine for the rest of the weekend. I'm probably going to buy an inline fuel filter for it to try and prevent future clots. I have no idea what got in the carb, it looked like a small piece of plastic?
The riding down there was great. I was surprised at how soft the sand is there compared to Moses. But, without the ash, it was also a lot less dusty and Moses Lake. Not only did we do the dunes, we found some great trails in the woods on the east side and at the south end. The trail riding was an unexpected bonus. We almost had to leave the quads in a few places. We got down some big hills with no way out but up! On one, I could not make it the first few tries. But, persistence, 4wd and an open throttle won out in the end and I got out. It was a bit scary though, because no one came by while we were stuck. Both time we were down in the woods too, with no flat way out. Oh well, it makes for good stories. Overall, it was a great trip. I think we may go back next month for another weekend trip.

Glad to hear ya had fun, and got the Vinson all squared away.
Where did you guys stay??????
I hope we can find all the cool trails you did.
We will be staying at Driftwood.
I know you said a weekend trip next month.
But, we are going down July 12-15 if you could make it then.
There were still a couple spots left last time I looked on Friday.
Anybody else????????????????????
Man what a pain this thing is today.
lots of trouble getting on and posting ;(;(
Sean,
We are looking at July 16-17 (probably leave after work on Friday and return at about 2 p.m. Sunday). We stayed at a private campground near the South Jetty #1 entrance. My friend is a member of an organization that runs the campground -- members only. If you are staying for the weekend we should try and connect on the sand.
It's somewhat hard to describe where the trails are, without having a map to consult while riding. They are both along the east side of the riding area. One was about 1/3 the way south from South Jetty along the east side. I think it is in the Goose Pasture area, but am not sure. There is a climbing hill that starts at the bottom of a couple of dunes. The hill climbs up into the trees and the trail is up in the trees. Don't worry about getting lost the trail ultimately comes back out close to that same spot.
The other set of trails was in the trees near the southern part of the riding area -- again on the east side of the riding area. I think the trails were between the Red Buggy Area and the Lagoon Campground.
We also found some dead end trails in other spots in the trees and were very lucky to make it back out. Neither of us were running sand tires.

Looks like my Faster Trail Riding days are gona be slowed up a BIT (4 to 6 weeks) due to a Left Knee problem...........
So it looks like i'll be doing some "PAIN THERAPY" at the camp sites instead of ripping and shredding........BUT i can still ride, long as i do it conservatively and don't get caught up in "O GO HEAD U CAN DO IT"...(thats gona be tough for me, around here).....LOL

Thanks for the info. I'm sure we'll wonder around enough to find the good spots.
We were going to stay through the weekend, but could not find ANYWHERE close that was available.
I think we are heading North on Friday.

Take care of your knee and I hope it gets better soon. Good luck.
It's no fun having a limp extremity
Need some opinions.....
Would like to get Tam a new quad pretty quick......
I'm debating on the 300ex and the 400ex for Tammie.
I know the 400ex would prolly be the best way to go (of those 2 choices anyway).
But, other than the silly reverse on the 300, what do you guys think of it??? Good, Bad, Indifferent.....
I think the 300 might not be as good at the dunes, but would be easier to handle around the trails and stuff.
I'm sure I could add a few things to make it go better in the dunes???????
I've read a lot on the 300 and it seems to be a pretty good and reliable machine......
Thanks
