So, I had a load of gravel delivered today. Wanted it spread down my driveway 2-3" thick to cover the potholes and help with the mud. Not making a new driveway, just top coating the existing one. showed the driver what I wanted covered and instead of spreading 2-3" thick, dumped about 12" thick and 30' short of the end of the area I wanted covered. Since I don't have any equipment to push that around I now get to move it by shovel and rake.
Was I expecting too much to have the driver spread it down the driveway in a straight line less than a foot deep? Should I make a complaint to Springbrook? Since I don't drive a dumptruck, I don't want to make a stink if it's something I shouldn't expect too much from. But dang, if I knew I was going to have to do all that shoveling, I wouldn't have ordered 12 yds, I would have just gotten a truckload myself and filled in the potholes. If I have to move it, then I will suck it up and do it, but thought I would see if anyone had any thoughts...Thanks for any suggestions.
You must of had the same driver I had that delivered top soil for me before I had my sod brought in. I asked her to try and dump spread it all the way across my yard and she made it half way about 45 feet short with her first load. The second load was just in one big pile. Needless to say I wasn't happy when I got home. At least it's not 90 degrees out right now like it was for me. I guess sometimes you just expect to much from some people.

Jayna......Incompetence RUNS rampid in this DUMP truck industry (LOW WAGES FROM EMPLOYERS).......if he was rude and incompedent then YES do call and complain about him.........
I called and even tried to be nice. I know a stretch. Shouldn't have bothered. The woman at Springbrook Nursery basically told be there was nothing they could do about it, that they deliver to a pile and do the best they can to spread it, but nothing more she could do. Too bad, so sad.
I guess I know better than to ever do business with Springbrook(Corner of Hwy9 and 84th-Getchell) again! Too bad, they are just a few miles down the road from me. Customer service goes a long way to helping encourage my return business and word of mouth. Gawd knows, I got a big mouth. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

NOT to offend u Josh but what happened to "GETTING UR HANDS DIRTY"

ANY day U want the KEYS to my rig, i'll be more than glad to let U drive it AND then i think some respect for your fellow road warrior will come into effect.........

If u are not happy with what ur getting try paying MORE money and getting a better class of company with drivers that have been employed by there employers for years and KNOW what they are doing..........For me thats the bottom line " U get what u pay for "

And that's why I asked before flying off the handle with unrealistic expectations. However, in this case, I DID pay more than average. Not by much, but I thought it would be good to support a smaller business close to my house. And I don't mind getting my hands dirty, it's more of a time factor for me. I just don't have the extra time right now to do all that labor. I will have to see if I can fashion a drag for my truck or something. <shrug> Didn't mean to stir the pot, just asking opinions. Chit happens. It's all good. Thanks everyone.

Easy there. I'm in no way taking any cheap shots. If someone asks me to do something and I tell the no problem, I don't do the opposite as soon as they're gone. Trust me I got my hands plenty dirty. I think you're a little out a line attacking me when you've never even met me. You have no idea what kind of person I am. I've never told you one thing and then did another.

I guess sometimes you just expect to much from some people.
This is not and was not directed at people who drive trucks for a living. It's a generalization of what happens in the real world. The majority of people don't go out of there way for others and that's a shame.

Sorry if I offended you. That wasn't my goal.
