Hey bighonda,
There were some changes to the Quad fest schedule. LokiDS650 posted this a couple pages back.....
"I just got the update on Quad Fest 10/11 and 10/12 at Pacific Raceway’s in Kent Washington.
Saturday will be open Practice 9:00am to 4:00pm $25.00 no gate fee.

Sunday is Quad Fest!!!
I think they are going to run all the Races first Its MOTO GP style one 8 lap race wins. 13 different classes
After the races it will be Game time with Marshmallow relay, Female/ Male relay, RC cars, and lots of kids games.
Kids 12 and under are free and get to ride free. Adults are $40.00 includes 2 events/classes each additional event/class $10.00
Spectators are $10.00"
I would have posted a separate thread on the subject, but the mods said they don't allow free advertising and deleted my other thread that was specifically for the fest.

There are a lot of reasons why things have been changing at Pacific Raceways. First off when Clem from Enumclaw Suzuki ran the MX series they had over 500 to 600 in a weekend. The lease was up 2002 and they did not renew any lease even on the Drag strip. They decided to get some people (friends) they knew to run the track and flagging and what not. Well there (friends) have no clue on how to run it. This last MX season they did not get even 200 people on a weekend. I had even helped out on flagging a couple times.
The biggest problem they have is Jeff Underhill who is in charge of the MX track. He agrees on an event then changes his mind, then wants something different.
Last season ATV's were able to practice Wednesdays and Fridays. Next season maybe Wednesdays but only before a race weekend and Saturday before the race. So what he is saying is that only one week a month ATV's can practice and the other weeks is just dirt bikes. This can and will change at any time.
What I heard is that the dirt bikes were complaining about not getting enough track time. So its seems better to turn away money (ATV’s) to make more time for the dirt bikes that are already there.
With Quad Fest they were worried the turn out would not be very well. HMMMMMM maybe if they advertised something?
So Saturday's open practice is to cover some of the cost of the weekend.
Sorry I am just angry!

I am not sure what we can do but seems like every track out there is ONLY for dirt bikes or the track is designed for bikes. When they design a track for bikes, it makes it hard for the atv's. There is two tracks near me, skyriver mx in monroe which is only for bikes due to insurance reasons and then i have the indoor track in smokey point. That track is more designed for bikes and it very hard on quads, the whoops kill you and the jumps could be made better for quads. Talked to the owner and he knows that but as we all know there are more bikes then quads. The guy who owns the track in monroe is going to try to build a quad track only in marysville but is having a tough time with insurance.
Yeah you never see any advertising for the track at pacific raceways and i thought quad fest would be a great weekend and really help us quads out but seems like we need different people running the track and the event. Loki is there anything that you know that we can do to make the track at pacific raceways run better???

*Warning, long rant*
Loki is absolutely right. Since Pacific Raceways decided to take things into their own hands, things went downhill very quickly. The owners and the people running things don’t give a crap about quads or anything else besides making money. But they don’t seem to be able to do that very well either.
There are a few people out there like Bob Lattimar and Jeff McGahan who are trying to make a difference, but since they are only volunteering their time to do this, and are not employed by P.R., they do not have much of a say as to what the owners and their “friends” decide.
What really sucks is being jacked around and not being able to get confirmation on anything. If they would at least make a definite decision and stick to it, we could at least have a base to start with, but the lack of commitment is what is the downfall. How can you promote something when the proverbial rug keeps getting pulled out from under you?
I had confirmation from a local radio station to have a booth set up with games, prizes and free give-aways, but now they are threatening to pull out due to the lack of professionalism and last minute changes that P.R. is making. This is also making me look bad in the eyes of the radio station and is tainting the professional relationship that I am trying to establish, which REALLY pi$$es me off!
Several years ago when I was heavily involved in promoting the local music scene in the Seattle area, festivals and special events had to have absolute confirmation and contracts signed months in advance. (This still holds true) There was also tons of advertising!
There weren’t venues pulling the plug at the last minute or making major changes like this because there would be legal implications. Anyone with a so-so reputation or who had a history of not being reliable, was simply not even considered as an establishment where a festival would be held.
My point to all this is, if we want respect from places like P.R., we need to be professional and aggressive. We need to get organized; have contracts that these people need to sign and take the appropriate actions if contracts are dishonored. If it’s on paper, it is a legally binding agreement. These places need to see that if they jerk organizations around, that there are going to be consequences resulting from their actions, thus forcing them to take responsibility for their actions and become more professional.
I appologize for the rant, I just needed to vent.
I also want to make clear that this is my own personal opinion, and does not reflect the views of Loki, Bob, Jeff, or anyone else involved with Quadfest or this forum.
