When I'm in the woods my Ruger Redhawk in .41 Mag always goes too. There a a lot of bear in Capitol Forest, just that the quads make enough noise you are not likely to see them, unless something strange happens.

Ohh yeah. And all the black bears i have seen in capitol are way more scared of me than i am of them I tried to catch a cub a couple years ago. Momma bear wasnt to keen on that idea so i bailed on that plan

I know a guy that raises chickens and turkeys and pheasant and what not Just down below where we saw the cat. It was a dark brownish red with black spots sorta maybe brindle.. i came rollin round the corner and it spotted me and took off i stopped pointed it out to bing and he tried to run it down. Id suspect the cat was in the 100+ lb range. Large.

Probably a Mountain Lion , lots of them in the Capitol Forest. If it was half that size, I would say a Bobcat.

Those mommas with a cub or two can be about the nastiest thing you can imagine. If you are between her and the cubs, the best place to be is elsewhere, any where else. I saw a 250 pound she bear go thru a pack train like a bowling ball hitting some light weight pins. Fortunately for all concerned she kept right on going with her cubs. If she had decide to turn and fight it out, there would have been dead and wounded for sure.
