Old PSAR thread - please see the new one
Originally posted by: WildTurkey151 Next time we go riding like that I am going to bring my compass. That way I don't have to wait on a gps or have to look at which way the rain is blowin. Then maybe I can be of more assistance than a hinderence to the trailboss in finding which way we are supposed to go. That and now that I know we use maps that like to get wet in the rain I think I am going to go and get one of those map covers for Larry so he doesn't have to be so delicate with the map in the rain.
I have a laminated map of Capitol Forest, but because I just knew it wasn't gonna rain, I left it at home.
What we really need is a chainsaw, if anybody's interested in making the ride again at some point with the right equipment, let me know.
I also had the idea of back tracking from the spot we split up at and riding the trail back, marking the road crossing, or atleast the spot where we couldn't find where the trail picked back up.

My neighbor has an old Coleman 850. He wants $150 but will probably take $100.
My Honda 750 will power everything in my camper except the micro.

Thanks Big D and Hap,
Now I just need to come up with a reasonable priced quiet little 1000 to 2000 watt gennie to take care of the 110 V needs. I also need to come up with a small flat panel TV that wall mounts and install a DVD player for the rainy day and night time entertainment needs then it will be home on the road
The camper is nothing special to look at inside or out but it's fairly clean and very solid. The guy was pretty liberal with the sealant around the doors and windows(read thick azzed beads) but at least he kept up on
the maintenance and so far thru yesterday and last nights rain I have found no leaks

Afternoon' PSAR,
Well Julie & I now own a pretty decent old Truck camper It's a 1985 Western Wilderness 10.5' fully self contained and every thing works. It also has a solar panel to charge the house batts for dry camping
So now when we go to the Dunes we won't have to Motel it any more and we will have our own place to hang if it turns nasty

My Honda 750 will power everything in my camper except the micro.
Depending on how many watts the micro is (600 watts is about max for those small generators) , if you turn every thing else off, sometimes they will run the micro. I got an 1850 and when I got my newer camper with air and everything, I went to 3500.

Well, Mike (Tencubed) had an air compressor and 5 gallons of gas, Dennis has a tow strap and handsaw and there was enough fire power to stop a head of elephants, guess you could say it took four of them to replace one of you
I personally missed you on this ride, it was right up your alley

Ok, I can live with it taking that many guys to replace me. With the wife's quad down until later this week along with the rain, I just figured I was better off keeping her company and taking her to dinner. Talking to SWMBO about the ride yesterday and she is interested in giving all this fun a try. We have a Bayou 250 that would be suitable for learning to ride on I would think. Where would be a good place to take Linda for some easy trails and pleasent riding? She has tried the Prairie a couple of times and found it cumbersom to handle. Since she has some hip and knee problems, result of an OTJ injury, she will not be wanting to do any agressive riding with jumps or other heavy impact type obsticals.
We would first ride at the farm with good level ground and she could build confidence in basics but this will get old pretty fast. Any suggestions? Are there such areas in the Puget Sound region? Any ideas appriciated.
