Default Puget Sound Area Riders Meet HERE!!!

Hey Everybody
Myself, Rusty, Jim and Geri went to Waddell this morning, staged in the day use lot and after awhile trying to figure out which direction to head down, started our journey. For some reason five minutes into the ride Jim got seperated from us, we couldn't find him, so back to the staging area to wait for him, he was waiting for us at the entrance to the campground.

Together again, off down the Waddell loop trail, two miles later heading back to parking lot, except for a short playtime in the graved pit. Never got out of second gear, nobody liked the trail.
Took the trail to the left of the camping area, #40 to Mount Molly to catch C-Line. The one with the bridges, got about 2.5 miles, turned around, that was worse than the other trail. Now it's 11:00, Jim and Geri have to leave, Rusty and I head to Rock Candy. Had my fill of Waddell.

Rusty and I were riding by 12:00, stopped riding at 6:30, got lost once, ended up at Sherman Valley Road, missed our turnoff from B-1000 to C-4000, and covered a total of 88 miles for the day.
Had a great time at Rock Candy, found cool new roads, saw elk and deer.
Now I have ridden at the ORV park side, Waddell and the Rock, the Rock is my favorite. Sure did miss you guys today. Hope we can get together soon.

Ride Safe Ride Hard

No, not one tank, we refilled before our last trip out, and yes, it was a great ride, and B-1300 is an awesome road, very little, if no traffic, hairpin turns to the right, long straightaways, hugs the side of the mountain.

The new tires were great, 22-11-10, 23-7-10 XCT, only hit bottom once on a rock, love them. I also tilted my handlebars forward like you suggested, like them alot better in that position. Thanks for the tips.

Going to The Rock next Saturday
2 - Raptors - Larry/Jim
2 - Predators (brand new, break in ride) - Greg/James
1 - Warrior - Rusty

Hi Larry,
Sounds like the start we got off to last week at waddell, about five minutes into the ride I rearended Derrick ,and got our quads stuck together. For a beginner like me the Waddell trail was to rutty, cliffy and narrow,We made it up to the first logging road/clearing and I decided to turn around and go back.Derrick had to shuttle our quads down through the nasty sections, luckly no one was coming up while we were going down.

The group that continued up had stopped to help a person that had driven off the edge,(Yikes) they said it was good I did'nt see that part of it. I had made it up the hard part but I felt like a whimp when I wanted to turn back, glad to see I was not the only one who did'nt like the trail.

We really liked the camp grounds at waddell & some of the trails near the camp ground are good but tend to go around in circles.Next time we go back I think we will camp at Wadell & trailer the quads over to rock Candy for some high speed logging roads.Glad your group got out of there in one piece.

Pam

The bad thing about the Capital Forest ATV riding is that the best camping is at Waddell. But the best riding is out of Rock Candy. Yet, still another option is Porter Creek. Unfortunately, the camping setup at Waddell tends to spoil me a bit. Nice asphalted spots, etc. Plus I have always been partail to the wooded type of camping. And not having all of the dust to deal with is kind of nice too. It makes clean up when you get home less of a job. Derrick? what is your opinion of Porter Creek as a place to start out from. It has the camping spots and it has instant access to the logging roads. Larry, now you have me all curious about these roads you traveled. Another idea that Berta and I had bantered about a bit, since we use to hang out all the time in the Moses Lake area. There are a few campgrounds close by to the dune riding area. There one called Willows that is about 10-15 minutes from the dunes. It has grassy areas for tenting. I will call and get the pricing information. But maybe a camping trip to the warm side and sand riding would be fun. And like I already mentioned about Tahuya, the state park is beautiful and camping would be perfect. Ive only riden over there 2 times but have driven over there looking around 2 other times and everytime I go over there I notice more and more trails that I hadnt seen before. Im guessing that Tahuya offers more trail riding than Capital Forest but theres more logging roads at Capital. Also, I think Tahuya is a lot flatter than Capital.
Geez, sometimes I get longwided. Ok, Ill shut up,
See Ya

Pam,
Did you guys go on the Waddell Loop, on the right side of the campground and crosses under the road through the drain culvert? On that trail we turned around at what I believe was C-9000.
On the other trail to the left of the campground, we turned around after crossing a steel bridge, up some really rutted spots then a wooden bridge that had a sharp turn to the right, with bricks on the ground. That trail seemed harder than the Waddell Loop, but we did have Rusty and Geri, who don't like trails anyway.

Is anyone interested in the Rock Saturday? rain or shine, day ride about 8:00. Also when we go to Capital, we always have breakfast at the restaurant ( The Place ) at the turnoff, Mud Bay Road and 101. Pretty darn good food, gives us a chance to socialize and plan the ride.
