My Marlin expert says;
"Hey Bear you are correct about case hardened vs. blue, however you need to see if it could have been a third model 1st variation 39A as they came out just after the war 1946-50 and it could have had a left over 39 barrel added when they were ramping up going from war years to civilian production. If you can get him to post it on Marlincollectors.com (they allow guest posting) and give the serial no with ** as the last two numbers he may find he has a 39A. He should give them the details. Once he knows if it is original or not I can give him an aprox. balue.

good mornin everyone........we just got our vehicles fixed last weekend......and on our way home from picking up one of the kids last night we had a blow out on the freeway lol i dont think we were ment to have 2 vehicles runnin at the same time...
