I have been doing some research on the Invisible Fence. Has anybody here ever used it? If you have how much did it cost you to get it installed? I really don't want to have another $5000 bill for vet visits if Tesa gets hit by a car. We are right on a main road, and people FLY on this road. I would rather be safe than sorry.

Tesa got a big goose egg right below her eye yesterday. She has been going to work with Justin and he had her out running around while he was wrapping his logs on the truck. He tossed the chain over the truck and he didn't know that she was on the other side. The chain hit her. I looked at it pretty close last night, Her eye seems to be ok from what I can see. She goes to the vet tomorrow so I'm sure the vet will notice it and check it.
they are good and bad depends on the dog.....it requires time in training to.....you can spend a few thousand to have someone come out and install, and assist in training the dog...or a few hundred to purchase it from a pet store and do all the work yourself....

We researched these very closely a couple of years ago and after talking with several people that had them decided to go with a regular fence. Seems they work great or not at all depending on the dog involved. Some dogs apparently will figure out that they can run full speed across the "line" and be outside the ouch zone and running free. Since the mutt we were wanting to contain was a real runner we figured it would not work. With a quiet dog like our Corgi it would probably work fine.

While looking into this I also discovered you can put up a fence like an electric fence to run the signal along. You don't have to bury the wire or use the special wire they sell at an inflated price if you hang it on insulators. Plain old steel electric fence wire will actually give the unit more range when hung on posts. At least that is what a couple of people did and it worked fine for them. I put one of the medium strength collars on my arm and walked up to the fence. That thing would keep me home.

I was trying to work out some details, but looks like a ride at Darrington on Sunday is going to happen. All are welcome, of course!

Thinking breakfast at the cafe in Darrington.

Hey, I bet that would be a good jaunt for the TrAktor and not beat the snot outta the operator as badly as Walker. And what about a nice sunny Sunday ride for Carissa's parents? Rod? Everyone else?

Gonna be a beautiful day Sunday.

Nothing trashy about a Happa Trailer Dance, they are all done in good taste
There are pictures that may say otherwise... . The disturbing part of what I just wrote is that someone took pictures!
More disturbing, Q4fun took video!
Whats more disturbing.. He has actually watched it more than once

Thanks ten! That is something to think about. The only problem we are having is we own 5 acres long ways (north to south, same as road). So it would be ALOT of fencing. I was just thinking about doing just the front yard and the side yard with the invisible fence. Once the dogs are out in the field they really don't pay attention to the road. When i catch my choc lab out in the front yard, I tell him to get in the back yard and he will. I just don't want the puppy to get all excited and start running around and beline for the road.
