Default Puget Sound/Seattle/Northwest Area Riders Meet HERE!!!

Originally posted by: 2mnyToyz I will say that the new RV has a much bigger feel to it, width wise. Even though they're both the same width. I prefer to do the required truck speed limit in this one.
Don't forget, if you tow anything behind your rig, you must obey the posted truck speed limit, I thought we covered this after TP got his ticket?

Errr - - - not to get "off topic" here but - - - Harbor Freight has 2000 lb winches for under $50.00 and they have the remote pendulum control. Also have the round, truck type, grommet mounted LED tail, stop/turn lights for under $14.00 each.

Well aware of it. You're required to abide by the truck speed limit if it's over 10,000lbs.

Apparently it really does vary from state to state.
In Oregon a Class C is for 26,000 and over, that's our class B, I guess, I'm not a trucker, just a guy who drives a truck

You need a 16' aluminum trailer with an aluminum top... Just so happens that I know where you can get a 16' aluminum trailer .
How much does that trailer with top weigh?
Dunno, but I can ask.

Gull-Wing

You saw one when I had it at Moses a few years ago.

Well, this just settles it. I'm gonna go buy me an old long nose Peterbuilt and hang a 53 foot refer box with a lift gate on the back of it, put all my junk inside, call it my RV toyhauler and terrorize the hi-ways. Gonna take up half the parking lot at any trail ride and carry the bigest dang B-B-Q you ever saw with me. Can you imagine how much beer you could cool in one of those things?

Wonder if I'd have to put tonnage on it?
you are a genie *** Mike!
I think, and we all know what happens when I try that , that with a three axle truck and three axle trailer I could haul close to 48,000 lbs. Now deduct a few hunnerd for the quad an some for the BBQ and brats and you come up with - - - ( divided by 16, carry the one - - -) A PSAR WEEKEND!

I'm big on proper service by a professional on my stuff. I can turn wrenches on my small stuff, but when it comes to things I have to rely on, I pay the $$$. They have the proper tools and supposedly the training and experience. I took it in right after I bought it for a chassis service. I was suprised at how much the went over, lubed and adjusted.

Chassis Reference Manual

However, I do appreciate any and all advice on things you think I should know.
Their are things trained techs overlook on some PM services. WE (at work) just learned an expensive lesson on Mechanics and their responsibilities..........It is still MY responsibility to check for defects in My equip. braking system etc. (even though I'm a driver) That said when I do brake adjustments I'm responsable for checking S-cam shafts, shoe thickness, auto slacks, Air can leaks and Air leaks in general. I do have the power to tell my employer that "This piece of equip." will not be leaving our terminal UNTILL a Mechanic has done an inspection of my suspicions.

Take the time next service and talk to your tech/mechanic if you can. Sometime they are a well of knowledge to "What to look out for" that not only helps them with what YOU might think is going on, It help you to "money wise" (it's cheaper to head a problem off)
Good advice. I generally have those types of conversations with them. I took it right in when I first got the MH to start off fresh, we just hit the high points with the questions. I'll be more detailed and specific when I go back now that I'm a little more familiar with it.

Guess it varies from state to state
Standard License with a Class C endorsement............????????
Is this JUST Illinois ???????????
It's also a state law and not federal law that governs CDL drivers..........
Same law in Texas, but over 26,000 you need a special endorsment, not connected to the CDL in any way. They say many states are going to this new endorsment to generate revenue, charging you for the endorsment and getting caught on the road without one, if you're licensed in that state. California has the over 40' MH endorsment, you need it only if you are licensed in California.
Well Happy has proved that a special Liscence is required for RVer, I stand corrected. NOW my next question is When you pay your money and get your RV endoresment do you need to show prove of "HOW TO" or do they just turn you lose and tell ya to "have a nice day"

ok, now I have to ask... what are you going to haul in it? Two quads = roughly 900-1000 lbs.
