Hey WingyDude,
I forgot what truck you have.......gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
What do you have right now ?????????????
This isn't directed at you Wingy, just some FYI for anybody on info and things I'm considering and have found while researching.
BTW, I believe the '07 Raptors are heavier than previous, and I think I would be over some of my weights on my F350 with the '07.......... Of course that is fully loaded, which is easy to be and I usually am.
If anybody had any different info, doesn't totally agree, or has any suggestions/comments...............
Let them fly, I by far don't know a lot, but am trying to learn so I can at least be safer on the the road........
For my families safety and others, I don't want to cause or get into a accident and hurt anybody.
I am seriously considering upgrading my truck now to the Chevy Kodiak 4500 or similar.
I am more than happy with my truck, it tows my trailer fine. I love the tow haul mode on my Ford, it works great.
The integrated brake controller works well. I'm under my weight limits (although at the upper end of them)
Biggest reason is the safety comfort zone.
My truck is at the upper limits of it's limits.
The brake system on the truck is dependant on the trailer brakes working correctly, and not failing.
Wear and tear over a few years will take it's toll on the truck and it's components.
With the Kodiak..........
I will be on the lower/mid edge of the weight limits.
The brake system will still work well if the trailer brakes fail. I believe they are rated in the mid 20,000's.
It is heavier duty and will hold up to the abuse of hauling a heavier trailer.
Air ride suspension and air seats, way more comfy ride..........
I've looked into this extensively, and am still researching.
But I'd rather be way safer, than right on the edge.
I would never pull one of these with a 3/4 ton, as I know some that do.
They are almost over the weight limits, but are over on the GAWR for the rear by a few hundred pounds.
oooooppppsssss........gotta run........be back later...........

No outty to try out this weekend rancher. Still in the shop.. New rear differential needed. the nut on the end of the pinionshaft that holds the gear on had backed out and allowed the pinion gear to move wich wore the gears and input bearing and made mucho heat. good thing it went to the doctors
