THANKS for the help today MB. I REALLY appreciate it.

Couple suggestions from a Z400 site...Since I don't know nothin' about clutches, I don't know if it even makes sense...

"Soak your new fiber plates in the same oil you plan on using. Make sure they soak fully submerged....for at least a couple hours. I'd let 'em soak over night if you don't have to hurry."

And:

"Also, look at the steel plates & you will see that 1 edge is sharp & 1 edge is kind of rounded. It doesn't matter which way they go as long as they ALL go the SAME way! Ray."

I didn't see any such thing with the plates, but again, don't know nothin' about clutches.

Could the torque on the bolts with the springs have anything to do with it. If I remember, you torqued those to 5lb? Those new springs were longer, could that be it?</end quote></div>

on the clutch soaking, yes, they should be soaked that long with those bad kevlar clutches. With your clutch being of cork like material, that long soak is not required. If I am wrong, your bike will be fine this morning.

unless I brain farted when installing your steel plates, they should be in the same way.

We will find out in a few hours what is up.

i agree with the oil theory,,,,and it should take care of itself after it gets hot and the oil thins out,,,,,and if it doesnt,,,well like MB said,,,you will find out

i would take it easy on the clutch,,,dont overheat it

lighter weight oil would help to disengage completely,,, but not recommended,,,, as factors other than clutching should dictate oil weight

I am certain you didn't brain fart, and that makes sense with cork vs kevlar. Just trying to learn the mechanics of it in my blonde head. Devil is in the details. That's why I really appreciate the help...I wouldn't have known about the plates all facing the same way, etc. Learning, Learning, Learning. Might even be able how to figure out how to adjust my friggin clutch cable properly, too.

I need to come over and clean up that computer. You are having issues because you have spyware and also need to clean the cache and registry. Shouldn't take too long to get it back in working order.
