hey Happa,
I might be gone but I'm still here. Playin in the sand.
BING,
I wouldn't trade my troubles for yours any day. Back injuries/problems are absolutely no fun. Take care and I sure the hell hope you get better soon. My weekend may be crappy and getting worse by the minute, but not compared to yours my friend. You need anything, let us know. Any of us would help you out with any you need, well within reason I spose
------------------------------
Had a fun day riding. Got stuck in the sand trying to park, but unloaded the quads and got out of the way. Rained, rained, was nice for a while, rained, rained some more. Kids got to ride a lot, momma didn't ride much. Sand Lake is nice for the kids, not many places the ol Rincon couldn't go, even climbed most of the bowls. Trails through the trees are pretty fun. Daughter had fun, that stock lil LT80 climbed more than I thought it would.
Fun Day had by all.......Until..........The dreaded moment..........Thought the flat tires were exciting yesterday............
Got back to the Hotel, and there were no parking spots. No problem, we'll just drag the trailer with us to Lincoln City to have dinner.
WRONG>>WRONG>>WRONG
Made it 10 miles down the road, going up a pretty steep grade, when all of a sudden.................................
Pop, RRM's go up and the Tach is pegged all the way up, no accelaration, TEMPERATURE needle pegs all the way hot as can be,
NO transmission = NO accelertion........
Going up hill, this is not good. Especially with all the weight of 5 quads and trailer.
The best luck I've had all weekend, this happen just as we were approaching the only place to pull over that I'd seen in miles. It just happen to be on the wrong side of the road though. Luckily I kept my momentum and there was only one car coming, and I was able to dart across the road just behind him. Whewwwwwwwwww eeeeeeeeeee. That was lucky. I had just came around a kinda sharp corner and would have been extremely dangerous to be dead in the road right there. \
When I pulled over, confirmed no transmission. I did have reverse though, could have backed down the hill, hehehe..
3 hours and $167 later (not bad at all), everything finally back at the Motel by midnight:30. Way past bedtime. Get up tomorrow and figure out how to get the Bronco and the quads home. Good thing I have a couple days to figure that out. That'll be fun...
Try to rent something tomorrow to drag the trailer to the beach and ride some more, hehe, yahooo, yehaaaww. We came to ride damnit, nothing gonna stop us
Time to go drink and then pass out. I don't drink, but I do now hehehe

Because my daughter reads this once in a while, I have to say what good troopers they have been. They are typical siblings, ages 6, 7, and 9. Fighting, bickering, picking on each other. But, they helped keep me calmed down tonight. Once they got over being scared and I answered all the questions they had (would we have to sleep up there in the Bronco, would we ever make it home, would we ever have something to drive again to go riding, were they going to be ok, etc etc), they were aswome. Sitting in the Bronco, pouring down rain, pitch black dark out, hungry as can be, worried about getting home, and never been in a situation like this, was a disaster waiting to happen. BUT, They played games on the puter, wrote in their daily camping journals, and talked about just stuff. No fighting, arguing, or bickering. They are the reason my stress level was at about 0. Even with the prospect of how to get both rigs home, very spotty cell coverage (had it long enough to sit on hold for Honda Riders Club for more than 10 minutes), not knowing if Tam and MojaveBoy were able to find any help in Lincoln City, I was just fine. WOW, way out of the norm for me. Thanks to my kids, they made this suck situation more than bearable. Thanks to MojaveBoy for carting my wife around to find cell coverage and help, and bringing pizza back for all of us.
Now the fun starts, trying to get home. We'll do it though

And to think my biggest worry today will be getting the shiny rappy muddy from the poker run hahaha, well alittle soap and water will take care of that with no problem. I finally put the Delta Tool Box, (the behind the cab, in the bed of a truck type), on the front of my trailer, today will be the test, see how it stays on and how much muddy and wet gear it can hold, atleast a new place for tools and gas

At least you have the right attitude! It's all about the ride!
Sorry to hear about your tranny. At least your quad didn't break!
Reminds me of the time I replaced the timimg gears and chain on my old motorhome while sitting in a camp spot in Honeyman state park. Ever taken the front off a motorhome? Luckily I had a tow vehicle with me so I could run back and forth into Florence for parts. Got it all back together in 2 days. Guess what, it wasn't the time chain. I had sucked two valves coming down the coastal range. At least though, I was able to limp around and home for the rest of the vacation.
Good luck with the Bronco. Hope you are able to make it home. Keep us updated.

Ran across a few of the WSQR folks, Dave-QuadFamily?, Great ride, lots of mud and mud holes, prepare to be very muddy. Trails were good mixture of tight and technical but more open ones then Belfair. Short course is only one allowed for Quads, but was plenty long, actually seemed as long as Belfairs long course?? A couple of the typical run-ins with bikes, and attitudes, just tried to be courteous and move over when possible, most thanked us, but a few bad apples. Did see more kids then expected, and we liked that and tried to give them space, encouragement, and high fives, but didn't hear any bad comments about them being slow or trail hogs like us QUADS.

Does YoDaddy seem bitter? Well I am. If I hear one more guy from the MC clubs say we are turning the trail system into a freeway system, I will open handed slap him in front of his friends. Does anyone feel the Tahuya seems like a freeway?

YoDadday, wasn't trying to get U all puffed up he,he. Like I said most of the two wheelers where great towards us. I had given the wife instructions on if U see or hear a bike behind U, at the next wide enough spot go wide and let them squeeze through, unless there is a whole mess of riders in front of U slowing everyone down, then they can wait like the rest of us.
The comment I heard came from a guy making his point right in front of the wife and I, with a radio on his chest and the host clubs sticker on his bike saying"I don't think it is a good ideal to have those quads on the same course as us, they are too wide and won't let us pass." He must not of tried passing our wide axles. Or was it that we figured his radio meant he was out there patroling the course for people needing a hand and not trying for his best GNCC lap time.

Back from the Poker Run, need to power wash the rappy off so I'll make this short for now. Mud, Mud and more Mud, that was the nastiest stuff I've ever been in, the ruts were so bad, I was walking the rappy through the ruts, quad at a 70 degree angle the right fenders were in the mud just throttling it along, man what a great time that was, I am dead beat tired. No problems with bikes, let them pass me, and I passed many, overall a great ride, that's one tight place alittle rain while riding was actually welcomed by myself, and I ended up with a pair of 3's. Need to power wash, later.
