Riding around Charlotte, NC
#1
Hello all. I may have the opportunity to relocate to the Charlotte area. Anyone in the area that could give me an idea of what kind of riding there is close? Woods, trails, dunes, etc?
I'm wondering if I should be selling one of my machines if it won't fit the terrain there. For instance, I like the Banshee for the dunes, but if no sand around there, why bring it.
Thanks for the replies.

a true dune banshee would probrably not be the best for NC....unless it is mild and can be converted back to trail easily
as far as the riding,,,,PM me for specifics,,,,,I lived in Charlotte for 5 years and can give you the basics (some good areas if you dont mind a little drive) (nothing compared to texas however)
search under 'NC' in 'where to ride'
lot of good NC people on here
and a lot of good threads on this very topic

Theres a few places around if your willing to drive. Uwharrie(also known as you-rocky!) is about 1 hr S.W., Brown mtn is a nice place to ride its near Morganton, NC and We ride at a place near Oxford,NC that is an absolute blast to ride at. There are two large dry lake beds that maintain a moist hard pack sand condition. Not suitable for paddles, but a blast and absolute traction. There are also many mi. of trails. Lots of fun you just got to drive to get there.

Thanks guys. I'll be moving the end of October. I'll definitely want to check these areas out. I bought in the Waxhaw area SE of Charlotte, and close to Monroe. May not be a bad drive to Uwharrie from there.

Warsteiner- I just left you a message in the Suzuki forum. Where do you ride most and what can you tell me about local riding areas? I'm looking forward to riding some new trails. If your group doesn't mind a new rider, I'd like to join in sometime.
I looked at homes in Indian Trail, but ended up in what is really Wesley Chapel. I'll be there in about 3 weeks.
Thanks

warstiener, how much of 485 is open these days??
does it go past lawyers road??
We used to ride the 17 miles between lawyers road and hwy 49,(I used to live in the apts at 49 and 485) when it was under construction in 2000. There may be some sections that are rideable still.
