A bunch of my friends rented a cabin up on Chimney Hill for the winter season (snowboarding). i was wondering if anyone rides near there, or knows of anywhere to ride. Its in Wilmington, 15 minutes from Mt Snow, interesections of rt 9 and rt 100. Im gonna have my bike up there all winter regardless, but id like to ride on some trails rather than just in circles on our property.

kawisomethingorother - sorry, the Wilmington area sucks as far as legal places to ride. State land is off limits, as is the snowmobile trail system and Power Company land (GMP). I've ridden there alot simply because my brother-in-law grew up in the area and knows the area like the back of his hand. We've gone as far as from Lake Whitingham all the way down to Readsboro, that's mostly Power Company land. Have come very close to being ticketed. If you want to ride, try to go between foliage season and before x-country skiing starts; less chance being reported. There are a few legal trails down by Bennington, contact the ATV club in that area.

 

yeah i live in Readsboro there are lots of places to ride except they are pretty much snowmobile trails and are ilegal to ride on. but you got to ride some where well i always thought of it as being better than selling drugs. i have spent many hours out there riding and never been caught yet. let me know if any one needs any thing. i rode all the way from readsboro to wilimington and all the way to heath mass. also there is some great trails in stanford too.

We were riding and got stopped sitting at the gas pumps by the local ranger. Right in Readsboro on Rt.100, the last gas stop before leaving Readsboro toward Bennington.
He just about ticketed us that time; he knew we had come over the mountain from Wilmington and there was no legal way for us to do it. He let us go that time.
