Default MASS-October Mt vs. Pittsfield Forest

Have mostly ridden at Pittsfield for 2 years after a bad few times at Ocotber Mt. What are the difference is trails and is October Mt all hills and rocks like I first encountered or was that first time jitters? Am starting to get bored with Pittsfield although it is great ride just twice a month for two years I need new legal trails. Looking for suggestions for Mass area and difference in October Mt.
Thanks

October Mtn. does have some trails that are extremely rocky but for the most part, once you know your way around you'll find that most of the trails are pretty nice. There are lots of highspeed dirt roads like Pittsfield and also find some good mud to get dirty in. We usually go riding in Granville, it's ok to ride there year round and it connects to Tolland State forest. Dude I see that you live in Brookfield, thats pretty close to me in Holland. What do you ride? maybe we can hook up sometime.

I ride mainly out in Pittsfield and it is really getting to be a drag driving out there. There are a few places out in Southbridge that you can ride but occassionally they take you across roads and land not approved. I am not into that so I normally drive the 2 1/2 hours to be a good doobie. I think I will give Ocotber Mt a retry any suggestions on trails to hit ( That is after I get my quad re-running)

Any suggestions for riding out this way would be great.

I ride Pittsfield, October Mt., Savoy, and Beatown. Each place has a variety of trails and trail types, you just need to know which ones to pick.

never been to hancock. Can you ride from ny straight into Hancock? Might be something to look into. I read NY has some legal state trails recently, is that tue, if so that is awesome for you

any suggestions for me?? at pittsfield we typically take churchill trail across to head down to taconica skyline to bottom we usually stop at what we call the boy scout camp( the place where the boy scouts have built a bridge) and chill out with lunch there. Then head back to day use area. Trails that are rough for me are the semi-steep or steep rocky ones (Thus the concerns about october mt) I love the smooth easy ride to balance rock to chill out but not challanging if I am in the mood to really ride.
I think when we were at Oct Mt we hit a pipeline section that was a fairly smooth ride after doing a large hill. At Ocotber mt what route would you recomend to start at. I just remember a big climb that was fairly steep up unstable rocks and it was not enjoyable.

How are savoy and beartown for riding?
What is your fave?

yes we ride right from ny into mass. we go onto the legal mass trails that are there. we have not gone to far in yet due too being to far from the trucks and risk running out of fuel but want to find more

have you tried taking a gas can with you i know it sounds stupid but the first year we rode we had one just in case we never needed it but ran into a few who did. i am sure it was not fun. My husband was stuck in pittsfield while i rode back when his back swing arm let go, we had tow and push a 600 grizzly out 2 miles with a 250 suz. we are know looking at upgrades for me I am sure you can see why.

I ran into a few riders who rode through a ski resort down to pittsfield from ny they also had planty of fuel to tool around the park before heading back. Just make sure you have a mass plate they have been checking like crazy this year

we just rode outside pittsfield mass. on sat and i brought extra gas this time we ended up going all the way into ny and we rode a few hours there and then still had to stop at the gas station with the quads and fill up before heading back into mass. to the trucks i think we did over 60 miles on sat.
