Anybody have the latest map on the final extent of the fire?? There is a map from Saturday night (http://www.fireupdate.com/main.htm). Looks like Miller Canyon and the Deep Creek crossing areas burned. I think Pinnacles and most of the trails around there are OK. Did it get up into the Crab Flats area?? Post if you have any info. Thanks!!

I think that miller burned. Looks like it frrom here. 138 is closed @173 still. Nobody but locals are allowed to go up there, some places nobody at all due to the possibility of falling trees.

This weekend I may head up 3n14 and see if I can get into the burned area (legally) and get an idea on the damage. I have a suspician that 3n14 is closed 1/2 mile south of Big Pine Flat campground. (Heard through the grapevine)

I'll report what I find.

The Old Fire did not reach Crab Flats, but it was close. I was down there the other night when the snow started falling. Thank God the weather came in. I also went down Hook Creek Road to 2N-26Y in hopes of seeing the Deep Creek crossing, but a downed oak tree stopped my advance. The Splinters Cabin area off 2N-26Y is all burned. In fact, don't even bother accessing the forest via this route. You would be disappointed. I also drove down SR-138 the other night. The fire came down Sawmill Canyon, jumped SR-138, and burned all around Lake Silverwood. There were still spot fires burning everywhere.

Here's the current road closures:

SR-18 is still closed from lower Waterman Canyon all the way up.
SR-18 is open to residents only from Big Bear dam down to Running Springs.
SR-330 is closed for guard rail replacement.
Currently, the only way to access Lake Arrowhead and Crestline is via SR-138, and it's still limited to residents.

Now for the big question. What is the USFS going to close down? Remember the Willow Fire? They closed a lot of the forest for a long time to allow for a regeneration and recovery.

I might to do a little recon on my Polaris on Sunday the 9th. Per the weather forecast, it'll likely be a wet weather ride. Anybody is welcome to join me.

I called the ranger station last week and they said the trails within the parks limits is closed off to trail riding?? If it's open now, and you can legally stage from either Miller canyon or Pinnacles i'll be riding there along with a couple of buddies sunday as well, stop by for a cold one, we be towing a open trailer with a white expedition. Can anyone confirm if you can legally stage from there? Do you know if 3N59A is open via deep creep road?

FYI

I live on Deep Creek rd!

3n59A doesn't meet Deep Creek rd. The powerline rd is JF-8, once to the top turn right on JF-6, then right at JF-3. JF-3 meets 3n59A just past the lower hot springs parking lot.

I have a key to the 1st gate on JF-8 The gate just after the 1st hill.

As of Wednesday night JF-8 was open but I only went to the top of the mountain.

Recon: I sent you an E-mail with my #. If yer gonna be out my way give me a ring.

We were going to stage from 3N59A on Deep Creek Rd, and ride up toward Crab Flats, early Sunday morning. But, looks like it isn't that simple!! Chris, I will give you a call. Looks pretty sure that we will be going!!

I hear that Miller Canyon burned, and will likely be closed for a long time???? From the map, Pinnacles looks OK, but I don't think you can get up there because of road closures. Maybe up 173 from the backside????

On my trusty lil map the ranger station sent me reads 3N59A ends @ deep creep rd. Gotta love county provided maps
reconranger, are you talking staging from the Mojave river wash near the south end of deep creed road?? That's where i like to stage from but was hearing that it's illegal to park there and that there cracking down on riders? I wouldn't want to come back to the truck only to find out that it's been towed.
Chris, how the fishin' at hesperia lake? you don't need a fishing licence there do ya?

We are going to park on a neighbors property next to Chris. Probably will get there about 9:30. Join us for the ride if you can.

You cant go to the end of the street anymore. You can park at Deep creek and the powerline rd but I would not recomend that. I see too many broken into cars there.

Theres a vacant house near me that my mom is keeping an eye on and we are gonna park and leave from there. It's gotta be safer than leaving stuff on the side of a deserted street.

I have lived here since 74' and never been to Hesperia lake! Strange considering I can see it from my back door.
