I've been meaning to get up to this pit for a year now.
Guess i'll have to make a point of it once it gets warm and the snow is gone.

from the Tri-County Pit, get onto Hwy 3 and head south about 1 mile to County Road 29 and hang a left (heading East). The road will wind for about 5 miles and you'll come out in Cannon City. Quarter across the highway (I think it's Cty Rd 20) to your left and onto the gravel. Baurer's Pit will be in site once you hit the gravel on the right side and about 3/4 mile ahead.

turn off at the Highway 19 exit and head east into Northfield. Go to Hwy 3 and head south, then follow my directions above.

I just noticed that you didn't mention which way you're heading on I-35. I was guessing South. If you're south of Faribault, then you'll have to try and get onto HWY 20 in Faribault. I can't really give accurate directions with out having you back track.

The easiest way to get to bauers pit if you are heading south on I-35 is go to Exit 70 or 68. I cant remember which one. It will be the Dundas & Montgomery Exit, Take a left(east) then follow that until you get to a stop sign in dundas, take a left, go to the next stop sign, take a right, there will be a couple more stop signs and keep going straight through those. Then you will come to hwy 3. Take a right on hwy 3, and then take the first left (almost straight across from Menards) you will go on this road until the you see a speed limit sign that goes to 30. take a left on the gravel road and Bauer's Pit will be on your right, you'll see it when you turn.
