psychotic,

you're thinking of HWY 20 I think that runs into Cannon City. HWY 3 is about 5 miles West of Bauer's pit.

the pit is still open, was there sunday, it was a MUD pit. the old guy is doing good and he said he is doing his best to keep it open after he dies. he did say he would lease it for 50 years to the right club and or group. only problem i see is that if a club get's ahold of it there will be rules, right now anything goes and i like it like that!!!

If the right group came in, we could negotiate a purchase.

I am Roy Bauer's Grandaughter. People have been coming and telling him that the rumor is he got beat up and the pit is closed. He wants everyone to know it is Open!! He is there all the time, drive up to the house. He will be 91 on April 7.

We have problems with people not keeping the "play" in the gravel pit. Then the neighbors complain about the roads being ripped up. So pass on that the pit is open and to keep the machines in the pit!

I would give you his phone #, but I believe you can't do that on this forum, am I right?

It would be great if someone that kept more control over the pit would take it over, but he has 10 kids that would like that land too! Just a warning!

Thanks!

Granddaughter,

thanks for the info. What are the feelings of Roy's kids about the pit? Would they be willing to keep it open? You can tell by the reponses here that everyone who has been to the pit appreciates what Roy has done for our sport by offering a place to go here in Southern MN.

Grandaughter,
I agree, People need to keep it in the pits. Drag Racing on the gravel road is ridiculous when there is a flat part to drag race at, at the top of the pits. And If 1 of his 10 kids get it. The Gravel Pits will be closed. Or what they could do. Give it to his kids. Organize the pits a little better pay $150.00 for a year pass per machine or $7.00 per machine a day. And take down all the old buildings and old house and build a nice new one. And only have it open from like 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. or something. All I want is for the pits to stay open. I was there yesterday, Roy musta brought in over 150 people. At 10.00 a person(machine).......well you do the math. Idk what to do. Maybe we MN riders need to form a group or club???

I don't know about g'pas kids. I am thinking that the poster above is right, if they get it the pit will be closed. There has been a lot of negative things that have come from the pit. Just today, we had 3 -4 wheelers fly past our house, and one went right up on the neighbors lawn! I really wish there was a little more "policing". I have small children and there were 4 wheelers going thru some fields like crazy-- a field we walk ALOT. The thing that stinks is these are probably other neighbors... think they would have a little respect.

Then there are the awesome riders that stick to the rules and I love to see they have a place to go. They treat g'pa very well! Now if this was a perfect world!

Too bad I am not one of his kids. I would love to keep the pit open.

There is something that g'pa signed for the police. There is not supposed to be anyone in the pit after dark. They had some nasty stuff happen and the cops had to put a stop to that.

G'daughter

psychotic400ex:

LEP7MM already has a group started up. I asked for his permission to tag along at the meeting this month. You can check out his website at http://smnatvr.com for more information. You're absolutely right though, there is no real "club" representation in this area of the state, and I think it's really needed, since there are few places to ride. I'd enjoy being a part of a club with organized rides here in Southern Minnesota.

I love going to Bauer's Pit, and would hate for it to close!

The more of us that can get together down here, the better!

Brian
