It's about 1/2 mile along the right shoulder. The right shoulder in that area is fairly wide, and shouldn't be a problem for a quick transit down to 3N61.

3N07Y is the trail that goes from Cactus Flats up to Hwy 18. It is street legal only as I recall. Don't know if it dumps out on 18 anywhere near a route you could take over to 3N16????

You ever notice there's trails leading up the mountain on the west side of SR-18, at Cactus Flats? I'm thinking there's got to be a way to get up and over that mountain, and down to 3N16 where Holcomb Valley Road dead-ends (you know, right at the county dump). As a crow flies, this isn't a very long distance. Then it's an easy shot through Holcomb Valley to Crab Flats.
I have explored some of those trails along west side of 18. Many seem to disappear after awhile. I have only been with my Jeep, not quad.

Well so far the only way to get across hwy 18 involves running the hwy for a short distance. What if we ride 3n16 past the dump to hwy 18 and head downhill on 18? Isn't there some trails taking off from 18 about 1/4 mile from the end of 3n16? There's a sharp left turn and what appears to be a trail on the right. Where does it go?

There is a (sharp) ridge between there and hwy 18. Have not checked from that side.

At the top of Johnson's Grade is where the PCT goes across SR-18. There's also a fire road in this area on the east side, but I don't know of anything on the west side, other than the PCT, and it's blocked by a metal gate.

We are gonna make the headlines!

"Group of ATV riders arested in Big bear"

BIG BEAR-CA,
A group of riders were arested here today for riding on Hwy18. These are not your normal Sierra Club haters, Several of these riders were in their 30's-50's and should have known better.

In an attempt to get from one riding area to another they were caught and arested. The ATV's were impounded and the perpatrators were shot......Then hung. The bodies were dumped near Baldwin lake which was named after Lucky Baldwin.......The unluckiest gold prospector in the west.

This writer visited the site of the bodies which was easily found due to the circling buzzards......

Sorry I was just bein dumb
