Well I do not know alot about bikes but I just feel that it is a waste to have a gear that you do not use....With the 13 I can not take of in Second I know i will not be able to take off with a 14 that is the reason I thought about a 15, that should make 1st gear a good bit taller...I think

the dunes in mississippi are about 6 miles outside Perkinston. Private land that the owner has given us permission by telling us he wont call the cops, but wont give us outright permission.
Shaunon: I cant believe your bike wont do a second gear launch. With the open intake filter, drag pipes and 300's you should have plenty of power to lay it down. Im not too familiar with CPI's but its my understanding they are NOT a low RPM pipe. They want that motor to be running wide open.
How do you do your launches? A banshee launches best about about 50% of redline. It sounds like its going to explode, but it wont. Click into 2nd, burp the throttle till you get to the start line, rev it up when everyone is ready and then BURY IT and DROP THE CLUTCH. You'll find out in a hurry if you have a weak clutch.
If you have excellent hookup, you'll pr0bably pull the front end up. Lean forward if you expect that. I know back home in the oregon dunes, I would almost have to sit on my gas tank and kiss the nose to keep the front end down on a 2nd gear start. The sand out here is alot looser and I dont seem to have that problem.
something doesnt feel right........

I saw that choper too.Nobody got hurt though looks like he was just checking out the dunes.
I did see a guy on his Rappy in the creek go over the bars hehe.
Me and my friend tryed to ride the creek for a ways and we both got stuck and had to wade around in the creek to get turned around and back out. That creek turns into quicksand the further you follow it.

There was a waiver of liability enacted in LA that says a land owner can open his lands up for recreational use and be free of liability. I believe it has to be free useage tho. MS has a similiar one, but the owner cannot change ANY money for ANYTHING.
LA just ammended their trespassing law tho. You dont have to have the cops called on you to get arrested. All a cop has to do is ask if you have permission, and if you dont, its instant fine/siezure. Owners dont even have to post No Trespassing signs anymore. You are assumed guilty the second you walk onto unmarked land.

Now, if you want to utilize first gear in a racing situation, you'll need to gear it up so that it effectively has the same ratio as a normal bike in second gear. Problem is, first will be so steep, your bike will be useless for anything other than drags.
Your bike has the power to launch in second, I think a little practice will get you used to the feeling of a good launch.
All of the sand drag guys I raced back home, and even flat track and rough scramble all did 2nd gear launches. Thats where I learned it. These were on multi purpose bikes that you had to be able to do multiple types of riding because you couldnt afford a "specific" type of race bike.
