Riding in Cali.

Hay all, Finally got my quadzilla up again and looking for someone to ride with. The only decent place I found is Hollister hills. I thought that place sucked until I went to Metcalf and relized how good Hollister is!!! ANyhoot. My days off are Tuesday and Thursday, anyone want to go play at Hollister hills??
Let me know, I am on a job transfer and have noone to ride with out here yet.

I'm heading up this weekend. I'm one of those weird few who have 8-5 M-F jobs who ride with people who don't have the same schedule. And Hollister is pretty much the best place, IMHO, to ride that is state run. You may like some of the more open places to ride like Hungry Valley or Pismo if you are looking to really open that beast up.

Where is hungry vally? Never heard of it. Hollister is kewl, I finally went to the little shop they have and they have race gas and everything... I was impressed. I also found a bunch of trails in the back that I never knew about. Hollister aint that bad, no where to open my baby up much, but still bigger then my yard and less cops then the streets.

Hungry Valley is down in Gorman, CA. It's on the west side of I-5. The high tension power lines run through part of it. That place is pretty huge at 19,000 acreas. You can also get into some of the neighboring forest land from what I've heard. THe facilities aren't nearly as nice. Most of the trails are 2-way so you have to be on your toes. The only one-ways are black diamonds. Some of the trails are severely whooped out. The whoops go on for what seems like forever. Talking 1/8 mile sections. It gets old.
The Pit Stop (the store at Hollister) is pretty nice. The prices seemed like they were better the first time I went (Feb. 2003) but have since gone up. If you need something really bad, I guess you'll pay. Last time I was there, some guys spent $80 on firewood. It goes for $8/bundle what costs $5/bundle in Fresno. So some of the stuff is way over-priced. But being able to fix your bike and get going is better than packing it up and heading home early.
