Paiute Trail in August?

Paiute Trail in August?
We are considering a trip to ride the Paiute Trail. Looks like the only free time this year would be the last couple of weeks of August.
Is this a decent time or will it be too hot? I have heard it can be a scorcher in the lower elevations but figured on spending time higher up.
Also heard it is the rainy season but my research indicates normal rainfall for August at just over an inch. Not too rainy by my standards.
I would appreciate anyone having suggestions or input as to whether or not this would be a worthwhile trip in August. Thanks
Craig
