You might want to try stonyford. Never been there but I heard it is one of the best places to ride in northern california. I am not sure how far you want to travel, but Hollister hills is very good riding. That is where my buddys and me go. It's about 1hr 15min south of San Francisco down 101.

Mojaveguy, your pretty far up north, not familiar with that area. Sorry Like JMAC650 said, in central ca. there's Hollister, Monday were going for the first time, then, you have Carnegie and a few smaller ones around the central valley.

I would suggest stonyfork also, i've only been there once but it was an awesome place to ride. It's not too far from redding, i would suggest an overniter though. How about shasta-chappie, that's right in you neck of the woods. Have you tried that? Another good place to look is the blm web site, they have a recreation search option that's full of info. www.ca.blm.gov

For trail riding, check out SugarPines. It's way up off Forest Hill Road. I used to ride my Quadracer 250 up there back in the '80s. For winter mudd-running, Prairie City was always fun. And for those insane enough for hillclimbs, try Carnegie, which is off Corral Hollow Road, west of Tracy.
