I want to ride on July 19th at either the Oceano Dunes or Glamis. I have to rent because I have just recently moved to california and left my utility fourwheelers behind in houston. Please let me know what you think of each riding location and if you know any places that will rent at the location.

Thanks,
Kenny

This time of the year you are insane to ride at Glamis.

Pismo will be packed. But it's not too late to get reservations at Reserveamerica.com. Search for Oceano Dunes S.V.R.A. NOT Pismo State Beach. They are two different places. I think some people I ride with will be over there. But I'll be there the last weekend of the month.

Have fun, and welcome to California.

Forget Glamis until fall/winter.

Pismo will have ATV rentals for you no problem........

I'd have to say my favorite place to ride is Jawbone Canyon/
Mohave Dessert and Hungry Valley.
Pismo is a nice place but growing smaller and not a lot of area to ride.....

Never been to Glamis, but Pismo is a little kids sandbox in comparrison. Smaller dunes. Smaller area.

The best places to ride depend on what kind of riding you like to do. I'm not much into sand myself. But I go to Pismo the most as that's where all my riding buddies like to ride. Favorite of the state parks is Hollister Hills. Just a really nice place. First class facilities.

I also ride quite a bit up in the Sierra National Forest. North of Fresno, between Oakhurst and Yosemite.

Search this site for california and riding. YOu'll probably come across links for sites with lists. There's one I think that's on employees.com and bokasimo.com or something like that.

ATVKen,
BlackandRedWarrior is correct about what kind of riding you like to do. Since you live in LA might I suggest Oceano Dunes, Ocotillo Wells, or Glamis. I have not been to Oceano but I hear this time of year the weather is a lot cooler than Glamis or Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a nice trail riding place but has lots of big rocks and one big sand hill. If you want sand head to Glamis, but you have to remember that sand and desert = heat. and we aren't talking 90's, we are talking more 120's. So, day riding is pretty much out of the question. Night riding is fun but for your first time I would highly not recommend it in the middle of a desert. Ocotillo gets really windy and if you ride in the mornings and night you can get around quite well. If you are looking to rent there are a lot of places in Riverside, San Diego and LA that rent bikes. Eaglerider.com, motorsportrentals.com, academyrentals.com Check this site out for more info. Good luck!
