Earlier someone posted that you can ride at the thurston county orv sports park- eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh wrong still not reopened up yet. Also cap forest is only open from april 1 through oct 31 but you still can ride the roads as long as you stay off the trails, and the dnr cop up there is very very strict he will not tolerate any violations. He is worse than a rookie state trooper fresh out of the acadamy on his first traffic stop.
Anyway tahayua is good to ride in the winter. If you like 4x4 quads try elbe hills.

I'm gonna be moving up to the naches/yakima area in a few weeks. Anybody got some ideas for some nearby riding areas? You're gonna have to spell out the directions for me too, I don't know anything about the area. I'm moving from eugene OR, so I'm pretty spoiled when it ocmes to riding areas! (the best sand in the world is right in my back yard! I love the oregon coast!) Anyway, any help you guys could fire at me, I'd appreciate!

Welcome to the state. There is quite a bit of good riding in the Naches/Yakima area. If you like sand, there is a small sand area nearby, Beverly. Also, just up the road is Moses Lake with a larger sand area. Neither area is anywhere the size of Sand Lake or Florence, but are fun. Check out this site for more information: http://www.waatva.org/trails_cw.htm or http://www.nmaoffroad.org/orvguide/mapsw2.htm.
Another place to find maps is the State Department of Natural Resources: http://www.dnr.wa.gov/dataandmaps/maps/trail_maps.htm
Finally, stop by the Naches US Forest Service ranger's office to buy USFS trail maps. There are many woods trails on the Cascade slopes near there.
