black river falls, wisconsin
#2
Im sorry but I havent been there. My family and I are planning a vacation up in the Iron River area or the Park falls we havent decided yet. I was told by CSTARK on here that Black River is like 90% sand trails. If you get information from any of these places please do feel free to share! I have accumulated a little myself.

Black River Falls trails are fun for the whole family. They are mostly sandy terrian, and the most popular riding place in the area. Very well maintained, and easy too find, get too, and ride on. Trail maps can be recieved from the WI DNR. There is around 100 miles of trails total.

Black River Falls is the tip of the iceberg for Wi atv trails. They use all the snowmobile trails for atvs year round. None of this banning of the National Park crap either. You see the whole income of people that live there depend on atvers, snowmobilers, snow skiers ect, ect to come
there and vacation for the weekend. Take that away and most of the people up in the Northwoods area will go broke. Whats funny is alot of these trails go from city to city and run along the county highway. The speed limit is 55. But the snowmobiles and atvs pass us along side of us
on the trails.
Be coutious and obey all rules so we dont lose such a great place to ride.

EZ, I ride there alot.
As mentioned, trails are real sandy, fun and at times bumpy (whopps due to the amount of traffic).
Trails are designed for two way traffic so if going out on a weekend, keep your eyes open for oncomming traffic. We stay at the Arrowhead Lodge right in BRF, they have trail access along with Hotel, Bar Hot Tub, pool etc.
One downfall to BRF is the limited gas stops on the trail system. A good trail is from BRF down to Millston. Millston has gas and food. From Millston back to BRF (west of I-94) is a very smooth fast trail which is the best around there.
BRF to Pray or City Point is a nice trail however no gas. We have on occasion driven our trucks about midway to Pray/City Point to drop off gas in the woods so that we did not run out. Both Pray and City Point have food.
We have found that north of BRF is Clark County they have excellent trails as well. You cannot get from Jackson County Trails to Clark County (without a big fine). There are some halfass trails to allow you but the fine if caught is extreme. Clark county has (we fell) better trails than BRF (just not as many miles). So we trailer up there (about a 5 mile ride) so that we can ride there as well.
We ride 250R, 350X, 350RX etc machines. You will find all types of riders out there including families with more than one on a machine. You will not find alot of water of mud. If it is extremely wet, you will encounter water otherwise the sand absorbs the wettness.
Lastly the trails are closed from The second week in October to December 15th and from March 15th to May 15th. Closed in the fall for us Deer Hunters and in the Spring to allow the trails to melt and dry up. The weekend before the closure in October is usually packed. Same goes for March.
Ride on.
