I'm reading this on the California BLM web site:
Possession or use of any glass container, empty or not, used for carrying any liquid for drinking purposes is prohibited (43 CFR 8361.1-6).
Is that mean not even in the trailer? No beer? Do they really enforce that? I wonder what's the penalty or if you heard of anyone got a ticket for this.

It's probably a safety thing to do with the glass. They don't care if you drink yourself into a stupor. Broken glass isn't good to anything, man or machine. Same rule applies to Oceano Dunes (Pismo) and probably any other beach.

Ozark, do you ever ride Rasor or Afton Canyon???
I like the "no glass" rule. We rode Johnson Valley (BLM) a few weeks ago, and had to change campsites because there was so much broken glass all over the place. Last time I was in the dunes, I had to dodge beer bottles more than once.
BLM is FEDERAL land, so this is a FEDERAL rule and has absolutely nothing to do with the state government. We have had this rule in the Calif. SVRA's for some time now. Nice to see the Feds finally catching up!
And, that isn't even mentioning the idiots who burn pallets, and leave the staples and nails behind!

Maybe they can ban the use of alcohol altogether! What's it take for folks to either buy their beer in cans and/or drink their beverages in places where others aren't riding? It takes little to no effort to "pack it out". It takes even less effort for all those tree huggers to use these examples to continue to get the places we ride closed!

No, not on a atv. But I plan to go there soon. I totally agree. I guess now I know that there's a no glass policy on BLM land. I think they should impose a heavy penalty for littering and enforce it. It just sounds kind of odd when reading the phrase procession of glass container is illegal.
