Wildomar - Any Good?
#1
Hello all,
I'd like some feedback on the Wildomar riding area west of Lake Elsinore in Southern California. There was a topic here some time ago, but there wasn't too much detail.
Anyone been there recently? Good, bad, what did you think?
Thanks!

There was just a thread going on about it in another posting. In one word . . . Wildomar SUCKS! The moment you pull in, the rangers swarm down on you about your pipe/silencer and go over your bikes/quads with a fine tooth comb. Unless you're completely stock - forget about it - they'll say you're too loud. The terrain is trails with massive erosion ruts everywhere and blind corners around every turn - I couldn't even ride there and almost went head-on with oncoming bikes several times. And it's not just me either. The last time we went there (which was a month ago) they were hassling EVERYONE and everyone said they were never coming back there again. It's too bad because it's so close to where we live too. We will never go back there again.

Interesting.
I went there, but it was closed due to the rain (what a pain).
It looked like a nice little area (and I ride slow, big, stock utility quads) so I'll probably try it again, but not until I call ahead and make sure it's open...

Since you're stock you can give it a try. Just be careful. There's so many ruts on the trails that you simply can't stay on "your" side of the trail most of the time, so it makes it very dangerous on all the blind corners and hilltops there with oncoming riders flying at you. I've been told many times that it's a better place for bikes then for quads. I can't tell you how many times I almost rolled mine, and I never have that problem. The rangers there were real jerks too . . . the type that "enjoy" being jerks.
Good luck!
Good luck!

From behind the outlet stores off I-15, you can pick up roads that will take you up into the mountains. Not sure if it is "legal" though.
In the old days, we could ride off-road from Riverside to San Diego. Guess those days are gone!
