I have not heard anything oficial yet but I hope it opens soon. I used to ride there till they asked everyone to stop till it was a legal park. It is withought a dought some of the best riding in the state. I hope they open it with a big chunk of ground. There is around 6000+ acers to be had. I hope they get as much of it as posible. I have heard it will be around 1500 acers wich is still several times the size of all other OHV parks in Iowa combined, but dont quote me on that because its just hear-say. I have also heard the exact oposite as well. One person said it will never happen because they dident get all there ducks in a row and now they cant get the ground. Take your pick as to what to balive. Personaly I think it will open some time just dont hold your breath.

I was in Fort Dodge on business on 3-13 and 3-14-05. There was a pretty good sized article in the local paper about the park. Do not remember everything, but they did say several hold up's had been cleared, with legal issues. They were working on the fence, and hoping to have it open in early fall. They also were having talks with another mine, about more land. Some liability law had been passes that cleared the land owners...
Sounded good in the paper, like things were on right path...
I had not seen this post before I went, or would have looked a little harder. I do not remember the name of local paper, but if they have an online version, I think it was in Sunday the 13th's paper.
Good luck to all of you out there.
Ken

Here is your update on the Gypsum City OHV Park in Fort Dodge. Follow this link to the Iowa Ohv website's forums.

October or Early November is when it'll open up.
Have heard that there is quite a little timber to ride, and will be a motocross track, camping areas along with other things.
Looking forward to it, hope there are some warm stretches in Nov. and Dec.
