RioRoska, have you been to Montesa?
Or how about the place at the western end of southern street in Rio Rancho?

Hey there Rio...

I go out to Montessa about once a month now. Montessa has some good sand hill climbing and just regular trails to put around on. It usually get's really crowded on Sundays but saturdays seem pretty mellow. It seems like almost every time I go there some kid gets hurt and the ambulances are called out. It's amazing how parents will leave their little kid on a sport quad to go out and drag race without any safety gear. So watch out for dumb people!! If you don't know how to get there, just take the Rio Bravo exit off I25 then go left on Broadway. When you see the Journal Pavillion sign, turn left and follow the road to Montessa.

Thanks Harvey and Vtwiner. I have now been out to Montesa. It's a great place to go to break in the bikes and just scoot around for awhile. I agree that there are people out there that just don't have a brain, so I guess they don't need a helmet in the first place. If they're heads break open there'll be nothing inside anyway. Anyway thanks for the tip. Now I want to know what forest roads and trails you can ride in the Jemez or Sante Fe area and are the forest roads opened up yet?
Let me know if you have any info.
Thanks
Rio

We have a couple of quads and would like to find trails in the Jemez, Pecos or elsewhere in the nearby forests close to Albuquerque as well. Have you found out anything yet...esp. for camping areas where you can take ATV trails from?

Anyone in ABQ is welcome to go riding with me, I usually ride the west mesa out past the MDC. If interested send me a pm. I'm not a speed demon, just a trail cruiser.... Can ride weekends only.
